Alternate History: Bigger and Better Protestant Reformation

Lets say that Protestantism spread faster and stronger. South Germany, Poland and Lithuania, Belgium, France, Austria, Hungary, Switzerland, and Russia (formerly Russia was Pagan, The Protestants reached The Russians before Catholics and Orthodox Christians). What effect does this do on colonialism, America, and The Ottomans?

We'd probably have naked rugby leagues on television. *nod*

Nothing.

Except maybe Catholic extermination on an even larger scale.

Explain to me how that would make a difference

How about this added:

Baptism becomes the largest Protestant demonination. (And no Westboro bastards)

Blacks, Jews, and uppity women are publically killed en mass. Also, dancing and playing cards become offenses punishable by death.

Baptists are the worst.

Oh. Well in that case, the naked athletics are untelevised and typically held in the basements of the churches. *nod*

Somebody CLEARLY needs to do a bit more research.
I seem to have broken my nose from the epic force of my own facepalming. Oh dear, oh dear.

I just noticed thus. What an epic fail.

The Russias were Orthodox. They were in the Middle Ages. Long before the Protestants even thought aout rising up.

Russia has primarily Orthodox since about 1000 AD. The ERE started missionary efforts around 800 AD, if I recall.
They've got a good 400-600 year head start on the Protestants.

In America perhaps. Over here baptists seem to be fairly benign, I presume it's a similar story elsewhere.

Thank you all my good people. I know more about Russians.

Now, here is a question would we all act like Russians if the world was primarily Orthodox?

Probably not. Russia is in a very unique situation, being where it is and having the culture it has.
(insert complex explanation of the Russian worldview, involving 'Europe sees them as being from the East, Asia sees them as Westerners' and 'Constantly at war with at least one of their neighbors.')
Its an interesting country. You should read up on it.

It probably wouldn't be that much different. Isn't Orthodoxy very much like Catholicism, just minus the Pope?

In the same way that Protestantism is very much like Catholicism, just minus most of the ritual and the Pope.
