Strange dreams

How many of you have had dreams where there's a common theme, and the dreams happen close enough in a specific amount of time? I've been having those kind of dreams lately. The first one was me in bed, and there was this red headed woman in a nightie. Of course we were cuddling and well stuff people do in bed...together. I didn't remember any of my dreams since, until last night. Last night it wasn't a redheaded woman, but an Asian, I would guess Japanese or Filipina. She was wearing black bra and panties, and while we didn't have sex, we did make out in bed, or what appears to be a hotel room. It's kinda weird that I've had two dreams that had a common theme in them.
Have any of you ever had dreams like this?
I have many dreams that repeat the same theme. When I was a kid, I always had nightmares--I mean, I could not remember having a single good or even neutral dream until I was about 10--and I often had dreams someone was chasing me and I was, like, running through people's backyards and stuff.
I've definitely had recurring dreams like yours, but I thought that was pretty normal. ;)
In this dream, I wrote the best poem ever. And then I woke up, when to write it down, and it was fucking gone.
I also had this dream where I met the most perfect girl ever. I started to wake up and I didn't quite realize I was dreaming yet, but I still knew I was going away, so I kept asking her to tell me her name and she just smiled and shook her head and shed a tear. I've actually had a couple dreams about her. Someday I am going to meet her, and I will punch her in the face for giving me such depressing dreams.
A while back I had this dream where I was living in an abandoned hotel and then it started filling with water and some huge kracken-like monster was in there and this guy who was apparently my best friend in the dream saved us and turned out to be some mutant monster thingy.
I have fucking weird-ass dreams. Meh.

A better question would be: who doesn't have strange dreams?
The answer is "nobody," by the way.

Horny bastard aren't ya...
As for your question: I rarely remember dreams unless I was drinking the night before... In which case they are that weird and screwed up that I don't think I really wanted to remember them...

Perhaps someone born and raised in a dark room and deprived of REM sleep by amoral researchers seeking to develop some drug to make themselves filthy rich?
I had this dream ages ago that I was at a beach on top of this massively high sand dune, like hundreds of meters high. I fell off and kept falling for ages, and went I hit the sand below it actually kinda felt like it hurt in the dream, not like hurt hurt but like an impact or impression in the sand, it was mega strange. I have a heights problem so I guess that's why I had it.

I had one recurring dream as a kid. Every single night I'd find myself running for my life on a meadow chased by a herd of diary cows. On perhaps the 10th night with this dream I stopped running, turned around and said "nice cows, nice cows...", the cows didn't eat me and after that the dream didn't come back.
Haven't had any other recurring dreams except every now and then I get a deja vu. Not sure if a made up place from a previous dream is reused again or if I just dream that I've been there before.

I once had a dream where I was being attack by a monster and was eaten. I then woke and was massively relieved that it was just a dream. A few seconds later, there was movement in my room and the monster's head appeared in front of my face. I then woke up for real. Scared me shitless.
I've also had dreams which are fairly "on top" for my life. I used to go to pubs and stuff before I turned eighteen and was legally allowed to do so. After I turned eighteen and got my Provisional Driver's License, I had a dream where I went to a bar I used to go to before I was eighteen and the barman ID'd me and was massively puzzled that I had only just turned eighteen.
I also had one recently where Gordon Brown got shot by an assassin in a cinema.

Of course your dreams are going to have common themes; your dreams are about things that are worrying you, or a sorted replay of the day you've had, or purely fantasy.

Weird that you have dreams of a sexual nature? No, not really.
Two weeks ago I had a dream about a woman who lived in a village outside of London sometime during the Renasiance. She was married to a blacksmith who made swords for the nobility but didn't really love him; he treated her like a prize and a sex object. Anyway to make a long story short she was having an affair with another woman from the village and her husband found out; he murdered them both in a fit of jealous rage and buried thier bodies in a swamp. The mangled ghost of the woman's lover wandered the moor all night long looking for someone who could undo the injustice dealt to them both. I woke up just as the young hot shot investigator came a callin' to town to try and solve the mystery of the disapearances.
Is that dream wierd enough? Its the kind of dreams I have all the time...
There were these people living on a desert planet far from earth.. the planet had not been terraformed but there was enough atmosphere for people to breathe and enough water to drink but no life of any kind. In this dream a man and a woman found a seed that when they planted it began to grow into a huge world spanning jungle full of faerie tale creatures.

Indeed, not that I've read the link, but dreams are the visual interpretation of your brain filing away events/thoughts you've recently had.
Theoretically, your dreams occur within microseconds of activity despite you waking to think you had a 'long' dream, or remember a sequence of events.
You have RAM and ROM memory, dreams are just a filing system.
My recurring dreams, and should be for many people, are being chased or falling/flying.
EDIT: That's a 2003 article, amazing to think that's nearly 5 years ago, to think 2003 was a fairly long time ago within our own lives.

So the next time i have a dream about being in charge of a large army won't be as scary if it happens in real life? I suppose it makes sense, but what about people who don't remember their dreams? There's still loads of questions that article doesn't answer.
I mean what about ordinary mundane dreams, like the one i had a few days ago, I dreamt my sister won an oscar for writing a book, how on earth does this relate to emotion?
Anways as to OP, yeah you're dreams sound dull.
Sometimes i can't tell if i'm dreaming or awake, i think of such wierd stuff.

I haven't had any recurring dreams, but there is a common recurring theme or dream genre if you will. The premise is I lose my ability to speak, and producing each word requires me to yell as loudly as possibly I can, but it very rarely produces sound, and produces at best a whisper. And this always happens when I'm trying to relay important information of some sort or another, and I have to try to speak it several times to relay it because my speaking is so soft and impossible to express.

Oh goddammit. This post reminded me of the time my nerdy-ass cousin told me about his Bleach-themed all-female sex orgy dream, and since I have to suffer, everyone else has to as well. :headbang:
Damn sex dream thread...
I did a good job of repressing that memory, too.

I don't have strange dreams. Partly because I'm in peace with myself, and partly because I don't believe in "strange".

I've had dreams where I go to bed ill and an old man comes to me in my dreams and lays his hand on me and I wake up with no sickness. I have had dreams where I saw things happen in my dreams before they did in real life. I have had dreams where I found out things in dreams that I forgot about (I dreamt that I found some pills I had stashed in my room that I didn't remember about 'til that point).
I think most of these dreams occurred after I took LSD, DMT, or a shitload of melatonin.

I had a series of related dreams when still in college. They were so vivid and repeated themselves 4 or 5 times. It was about small, girl twins and their brother. And all I saw was the way they were both murdered by an old lady. I still, to this say, have no idea why I dreamt about that.

When I was about 8, I had this series of dreams that lasted for months. The theme, as I recall, was Power Ranger-esque.
More recently, I've had certain people who have no real-world counterpart show up repeatedly. I swear they're developing their own consciousnesses because they interact with each other and I can't manipulate them like I can most other dream people. Should I worry about one of them trying to usurp me?

ROFL!!! Tell me more, NM, please.
It was a while ago but her's how it went from what I can remember.
I was in North Korea with government soldiers chasing after me (I don't know how I go there or why they were chasing me). So I'm running through a forest and ahead of me I see that there's like a military base/checkpoint. I pulled a gun out (I don't know where I got it, It just kinda...appeared). Then the next part of the dream played out sort of like an action movie, where I've got 15 - 20 guys shooting AK-47's at me but I manage to dodge all the bullets. While I'm running around, I find out that my brother and my cousin are n NK too at the same army base I'm at. They never explain how they got there, they just keep telling me we need to escape. I get in a tank, somehow know how to drive it, and kill all the guys. Then I get into a black hearse that, for some reason, was parked there. So then me, my brother and my cousin are driving along a dirt road (that turns into a paved highway after we drive a few metres) in a hearse. The NK army can't find us anymore but is still actively searching for me. After a while we arrive at the North-South Korean border. now here it gets really weird. The border between North and South Korea looks EXACTLY like the Canada-US border at Detroit, even the Ambassador Bridge was there. Also, while I'm driving the hearse the steering wheel is increasing in size.but the time we get to the border crossing the wheel is the size of a large pizza. The guard recognizes me and all these jeeps with soldiers rush at the hearse. So I speed across the bridge and make it safly to South Korea before waking up.
One of the most messed up dreams I have ever had. Another weird thing was that the border had a regular traffic of South Korean going to North Korea and North Koreans going to South Korea, as if it were the Canada-USA border, I actually got stuck in a traffic jam there.

Holy fettucini!
I had dreams exactly like those except I was a woman both times. Odd I know. At least I retained my natural hair colour for the first one, but in the second, not only did I change gender, but race as well. I may have been some type of asian chick, but to be honest, I was kind of distracted by the sexy black lingerie I had on.

Should you worry? Why would you? Even if they had some sort of "different consciousness", then they'd just be like (not so) imaginary friends. Or real people. Real people don't try to "usurp" you, and even when they do, you probably realise it.
Then again, worrying won't change anything.

when I dream, it's usually surreal, or a nightmare. Being chased has happened, once or twice. I dreamt I was in a car park being chased by someone drunk, and fearing for my life. They were yelling after me about how they were going to kill me. I've also dreamt about being executed several times, but not so much anymore... or I've had the typical falling dream. I'm running, but every step, I go higher and higher into the air, and then plummet. I once had a dream that everyone around me was turning into a rotting corpse, I would find pools of muddy flesh and teeth all over, eventually my own teeth and mouth rotted and I felt it all, vividly. I didn't sleep for a week (literally) after that. I've had dreams about changing sex, which didn't surprise me at the time and don't now. I've only just started having wet dreams, and had never had any until I was at least 20... even then I've only had 2. I had a dream recently where I was actually awake, but the dream superimposed upon my conscious vision and retranslated physical sensations into less pleasant ones. my girlfriend was stroking my back, this became two men grasping at me, and a disembodied voice telling me to 'be a good girl, and not struggle' what happened next is fairly obvious. Some of the eeriest ones involve a lot of sound... I was being followed around the city by someone, and ended up at a hospital, and this scream comes over the tannoy, long and distinct, but not of pain, but of anger, of the person who's been following me.
Uh, that's about it.
You think you guys have strange dreams...
The other night I had a dream where I woke up, and in my boxers started walking to the bathroom. Pretty normal so far. I turn into the hallway, and head towards the bathroom in a foggy morning daze. Then I hear Ned Flanders say, "I can see your doodle!" I look down at my doodle, and am like "Heh? Oh, its sticking out."
So I turn around and put on pants. I come back out, and again Ned Flanders tells me that he can see my doodle. I look up at Flanders, who is a cartoon while the rest of the dream looks like real life, with a puzzled look, then look at my doodle, and sure as hell it is sticking out. So I put on another pair, and another, and another, but Flanders can still see my doodle.
After I had on eight pairs of pants, I ask Flanders how he is always able to see my doodle. He replies, in a completely different voice, "I DUNNO LOL MAIBEE ITS MA GLASSES". I remember shitting a brick, then waking up. Ya.

not really, But last night I did have a weird dream. I dreamed I went to prison, which actually nothing new. I have a lot of dreams were I get arrested and/or go to jail. Sometimes I dream about the act that gets me trouble such as I'll dream about killing someone. But the weird is sort enjoyed prison in this dream. Usually its frightening, more of a nightmare and I wake up from it, not this time. The prison was nice too, had a tv and everything. It was weird.

A recent dream I had is not the strangest, but one of the oddest:
I dreamt I was living back in New Zealand at the town I did my teaching diploma in. In my dream I was living in a one bedroom apartment, which had previously been a complete house but had been divided into two seperate apartments when the council noticed that there was a right-of-way that went straight up the yard and through the house, to the street behind. The Council had then split the house into two and there was a path between the two places (though the roof remained). For some reason I knew all this clearly at the start of my dream. Don't ask me why this was so important to me but I do remember it being there. And no, I had no idea who lived next door.
Anyway, I was in my flat tidying my room. I had two boxes in front of me. One box had my university work in it, the other bits and pieces - rubbish mostly. I was slowly cleaning and sorting them out, dividing my stuff into whichever box I thought it belonged to when I noticed the time.
I was late for my class!
Quickly I ran out the door, across the road and down a little street where I could walk along a lane that lead to the polytech I was studying at. Just as I got to the lane it started to rain. So I turned round and ran back home in order to take my car.
It wasn't in the carport!
Frantically, I started trying to think where my car could be. Had it been stolen? Had I left it somewhere and forgotten where? I was desperately trying to think what could have happened to it when I awoke with a start.
Why it was so odd, was that when I woke up I lay there still desperately racking my brains as to where my car was. I literally had to sit up and tell myself repeatedly that I now live in Hong Kone and haven't owned a car for over 4 years now. I say repeatedly, because I truly did not believe myself. It took several minutes before it sunk in.
Most odd.
As for the other stuff, writing it out now I notice the dream revolved a lot around having two sides that seemed identical but weren't. Perhaps I'm just thinking about my options in life here. Considering I'm seriously thinking about buying a place here in HK (thus making a serious commitment to staying here for quite a while longer) that makes the dream seem pretty straightforward.
Yes...yes it is.No its not. My cousin died that way.

This is definitely a martial artist's nightmare, but I dream that people start fights on me, and I'm hitting them as hard as I can, but all my strength leaves my the second before I make contact. And I can't hurt them, and my girlfriend's there, watching me failing to beat up some pussy. I get that a lot. Other times I'm surrounded by the zombies from 28 days later and I get torn to shreds , but only after killing loads of them. This probably means I have real pshycological issues lol.

Hope to see you tonight sexy. *slaps your ass*
If that happens, it will make an interesting dream for analysis in my Psychology course.
...
But seriously, if that happens, I'm taking two sawed-off shotguns and hunting you down in your dreamworld. Even Smokey the Bear won't be able to save you.

I've had a few dreams like that in the past and I have recurring dreams about having a skydiving malfunction and trying to pull the reserve handle but not being able to get my hands to move there. In the last one I finally managed it and a hot air balloon came out. For some reason in my dream all I could think of was "Damn I picked up the wrong rig" all the way until I hit, stood up and brushed myself off
Dumb Ideologies

No pattern whatsoever in mine. The ones I remember seem to be pretty weird. For example, a few years ago just before my history AS exam I dreamt that we all went in, sat down, turned over our papers, but the writing on them was entirely in Chinese. Obviously, people started making noise and complaining, but then the invigilators come in, wearing SS uniforms and with guns. So everyone just starts writing, despite not knowing what the questions mean, until halfway through the Queen arrives and gives a lengthly, and horifficly racist, speech. Then the exam is declared over, and the Queen declares she has to fly back to the Dominions because there is trouble in the East. Then she flies off from the school field in a WW2 Spitfire plane. Obviously it was partly influenced by the topics I was revising at the time, but still t'was pretty bonkers.
