Well it is unlikely that either Christians or Muslims are 100% Correct. There is an equal chance that athiests are wrong. Agnostics are entirely right in their reasoning, but may be as incorrect as anyone else since they don't actually believe a specific thing.

So essentially, everyone is wrong.

As I posted in the other thread. These wars base problem is not religion but money and power. Religion which I believe is a natural occurrence among humanity is just thrown in to fan the flames further. Ask the majority of Muslims and they will tell you that Bin Laden for example is not a true Muslim. Why? Because he kills innocent and insights suicide bombers. Bin Laden's true motive is power. He just used Islam and the ignorance of his followers to his advantage. Not saying anything here that hasn't been said before.

I didn´t creat this thread so that people offend the beliefs of others. I just want NSGers to discuss who do they think is right in their assumptions without the risk of someone coming in, out of the blue, and flaming any of them for no apparent reason. Perhaps this thread wasn´t a good idea if one´s to judge by how things go around General forum.:(

I think, that if anyone has it right, it was certian Pagan groups on a spiritual level. Meditation and living in harmony with nature (which is showing us now that not doing that is going to bite us in the ass). Honostly, look at how the earth functions. There is something deeply spiritual about the earth, even if there is no god. Pagan groups also in many cases exulted femaninity and had godess worship, which gave women a certian (note, only certian) degree of power, something Abrahamic religions stripped away from them.

I most religions are partly "right," whatever that means. They were created by people as a means of contemplating their world, and I can't really claim the Semites were better at it than the Indians, or the Greeks were superior to the Arabs. Even atheists generally have a system of beliefs that help them live, it's just a system that does not include God.
I would say that Christianity is more right than other beliefs, only because I have had personal experience with it and sense (not rationally know) it is better. That is not the say it is subjective, I honestly believe it is objectively better. But not by much.

What a silly question! WHO is right? That's irrelevant. The question is WHAT is right; all interested parties must be willing to change their minds should the evidence go the other way. Who. Really now, what kind of egomaniacs are you people?

I wouldn't lump that in with the rest of the world's religions, though. Typically, our "beliefs" - or morals - are firmly rooted in reality. (e.g. "It's wrong to kill people because it infringes upon their right to pursue their own destiny", a consequence that is readily observed, rather than "It's wrong to kill because God said so and will punish me", for which there is no verifiable proof).

Myself - I'm a girl who needs proof. And how convenient is it that alllllll these religions expressly squash requests for proof by claiming that faith is the diametric opposite of verification through proof?

So, sorry, but I happen to think atheists are right. Until I see something that suggests otherwise, I have no choice but to assume that religions are nothing but obsolete, man-made constructs, used to explain a previously unexplainable planet.

(As a side note, I really hate when people lump agnostics in with atheists. That's nearly as goofy as Christianity, to stand there and say, "Well, you can't really KNOW there isn't a God" . . . and that's nonsense. It's perfectly reasonable to conclude that there is no god when there is no proof. Does a LACK of proof also give you the idea that the Tooth Fairy or Easter Bunny MIGHT exist? If you're a rational person, no. So why not concede on the idea of a god?)

No one is right. There is not such thing like an universal truth. Personally, I do not believe in any kind of "god" and I tend to see religions as philosophies. That's why I tend to prefer Left Hand path religions, LaVeyan Satanism (as it's probably the closest ones to my beliefs in the matter of individualism) and Paganism (as it's close to Mother Nature which I respect more than anything).

I'd stick with Agnostic, atheist seems a bit too fast to ignore all possibility of God, religions that do trust in a God don't seem that stable, agnostic seems to allow for more room to interpret belief and ideas i think.

Of course that's all really irrelevant when considered under the light of reason by the potatoe God, who continually watches over each harvest at full moon, and yes you are most blessed when eating them mashed for it is truely a holy thing to mix potatoe with milk and butter, and thus the mashed potatoes shone out from the darkness to bring a new age of fulfullment to those who need food.

I said other, because I believe it is individual by nature. It has to be right for you to be right.

I posted on another thread that just because snake handling or tree worship or cows are our mothers isn't right for me, that doesn't mean it isn't right for someone else. (As long as the belief harms no one else.)

It would only be wrong if you were practicing a faith you didn't actually believe in. That would not only be wrong, it would be sad. :(

"Infringing on rights" is just as baseless as "Disobeying God." At least, put that way it is. If you explain why people have such a right, it may make more sense.

Religion is a human invention. Look at any religion and you'll see an elitist social/political old boys club the purposes of which are to oppress some groups and exalt others, indulge in self-congratulatory glad handing and find scapegoats for problems of their own making. Religion promotes bigotry, zealotry, institutionalized ignorance and a generally rigid and parochial attitude. Religion does not promote spiritual, emotional and intellectual growth, indeed, it acts as a deterrent to these, because for anyone, in the context of a religion, to actually grow in these areas would put him in direct opposition to his co-religionists and invite his ostracism.

As to facts, there are no facts proviing God - faith in God is an opinion based on other opinions and wishful thinking.
