England vs France
So tonight England will face France in a friendly football (soccer) match. This thread is for your predictions, analysis and general hooliganism :p.
It'll be Capello's first real test, in my opinion, as England manager. Beckham is set to get his 100th cap, the 5th English player to do so. Also Rio Ferdinand has been named skipper while Terry is left out of the squad.
France will field a strong side. Henry is still deadly in attack and Gallas holding down defence they'll be tough to break down. I see this one going down to the wire.

I hope England will win.
If it looks like we're gonna loose we could just fire a gun across the pitch and the french will run!

Oh, this is gonna be funfunfun! I am SO going to drive my BF up the walls!
Let's see... I'll cheer for France, I'll most certainly comment on the unlawfully ugly English players, I'll throw in the odd really serious and difficult question just when the match gets exiting, I'll ask him if he wants a cup of tea every 10 minutes... what else can I do?

I think England will win this.
My reasoning is that, given the minimal difference between the two sides, each and everyone of the England team is motivated to play well in this match - I think Capello has respect, unlike McClaren, and I think they will all want to earn that.
I think dropping Terry was a great decision - the man's a complete lout - and I also think picking Ferdinand as captain was a good choice.
I couldn't really care for Beckham being in the team, as in I have no real preference, but I do think a 100th cap is a nice gesture even if Capello says he picked on performance.
However, it all doesn't matter one jot, we're not in the competition so it's all a bit meh overall - it doesn't indicate anything even if England do win.

My money is on France, 2:0. One by Ribery, no idea who'll get the other one. Anelka maybe.
Henry isn't playing, as are a bunch of other French first line players.
As it stands, I'm still backing France, Italy and Germany as the most serious contenders for the Championship, though I'm getting worried about the German team again. They've lost their winning form a little bit recently.
Beckham is set to get his 100th cap, the 5th English player to do so. Beckham's playing? France wins.
Incidentally, what Bri'ish channel can I watch it on and when?
I hope England will win.
If it looks like we're gonna loose we could just fire a gun across the pitch and the french will run!If I'm not much mistaken, an English fan firing a gun will mean that England automatically forfeits, much like in that match between Denmark and Sweden where a fan attacked the ref.

They've lost their winning form a little bit recently. It was about time to knock a bit of humility back into them. They should be fine by the time the cup starts.
Depending on tonights performance we could see who will be playing in the team for the World Cup qualifiers. We need something to cheer about. Standing in the student bar when we lost to Croatia, just stunned silence as we all realised we wouldn't be in the Euro Championships.
I agree about Ferdinand. IN my opinion he is a better defender than Terry. Owen should be playing tonight and with his recent performances at Newcastle I have to say he is getting back on form. As its a friendly Capello may give Walcott a run out for the last 20 minutes or so.
Beckham's playing? France wins.

We're going to get our arses kicked. Possibly.
Any thoughts on what the starting XI will be? I'm hoping for James; Lescott, Ferdinand, Terry, A Cole; Bentley, Gerrard, Barry, J Cole; Rooney, Crouch. Can't imagine Owen or Walcott will start. Can't believe Downing's in the squad, again.
Beckham will probably be on the bench and come on either at the start of or halfway through the second half.

Or like that game involving Colombia when an angry Colombian fan ran onto the pitch and shot the goalie (he probably did merit it, he was doing terrible).

Oh, and Germany beats Switzerland 4:0, the US beats Poland (!) 3:0.
