Got a (used) XBox in the shop (stupid tray won't recognize it's closed...) and the Wii looks so cool (yet I can never seem to find one to buy...:( ). PS3 is a tad too expensive for my liking.

So I'm going to have to go with the Wii- it's unique among these consoles.

Yeah, finding a Wii is quite a challenge here, too. With any luck, though, I'll be getting one this week.

What you should do is call your local retailer, ask when they expect their next shipment (ask for the estimated day and time) and arrive on that day a few minutes early.

What you should do is call your local retailer, ask when they expect their next shipment (ask for the estimated day and time) and arrive on that day a few minutes early.

Yeah, if you can make it that day at opening time. For example, I know my local best buy is getting a shipment tomorrow or got one today, but will be putting them out tomorrow at opening time (10 AM). I called today and checked. But they said that a dozen people had checked today, knew about it tomorrow, and they would only be getting five of the things... I don't get out of class till 11, and wouldn't be able to actually get there till 11:20 or so, but chances are they will be out...

Ah well, I can wait for the Wii. I have other things I should be doing anyway... No desire to get either of the other two, the wii is the only console that actually has any revolutionary gameplay.

I have a Wii, and it's brilliant! :)

It's an excellent, dependable machine with an excellent line up of titles. Super Smash Bros Brawl is also on it's way (to Britain), so that is also awesome. I also love Wii Sports. Especially tennis.

I was pretty sceptical at first about how the console would handle the last Metroid Prime title, Corruption. After some grumbling getting used to the Wiimote, I must say it was an absolute joy to play. Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 is also certainly one of the best multiplayer experiences I have ever had with my friends, and it's really the Wiimote that makes the game.

In second place, the Xbox 360. I don't have one, but I might get one eventually so I can play Bioshock and Halo 3. Decent titles, but the Wii trumps it in terms of revolutionary gameplay.

PS3. *Negative Buzz Noise*

Too expensive, and not enough interesting titles for my taste.

The PS3 has a better lineup now, and is actually a decent purchase. Could be great in a year, but we'll see.

Xbox 360 has the best games right now, no doubt about it, so it's obviously a good choice. The best unless you want something only available on another console.

Wii has potential to do some new things, but not much is being done with it. It has the worst lineup of any of the current consoles by far, and since it's the games that matter it can't be recommended to anyone who isn't a fan of Nintendo's first party games or really, really, REALLY want to play with a Wiimote. And perhaps those who can't figure out a regular controller; there's a lot of people in this group.

PS3 all the way.

1) It has plenty of games and good ones too when hooked up to your HD TV the graphics are excellent not to mention some games have come out in 6.1 surround sound. UN Protectorates what do you mean not enough titles for your liking there are plenty from sports (NBA LIVE 08, FIFA08), racing (Need for speed Underground, Motorstorm), Shoot them up (Resistance, Army of two) not to mention many others (Assassins Creed)

2) In relation to games you can still play all your PS2 and PS1 games as well meaning even more titles on offer

3) Internet connection yes I am aware the XBOX360 also has this but still it is an advantage of the PS3. With this you connection you can play against people from across the world, check email, plug in a keyboard and write posts on NSG. Basically like a computer but on a much larger screen

4) Blu-Ray player something neither of the other consoles have and since it seems Blu-Ray has won then buying the PS3 was the right thing to do because currently at least in Australia Blu-Ray players cost about the same for the PS3 so there is an advantage. It still plays DVD's

Yes it costs more than the others but it is better than the others for the reasons outlined above especially number 4.

The Wii. For the reasons following:

1. Super Smash Bros. Brawl
2. Wii Sports
3. Super Mario Galaxy
4. The Virtual Console
5.Size and Design
6. Innovation
7. Price

I have no interest in the new PS3 as the new Katamari will not be released on it.

I love the NDS. :D

Well, I personally don't like sports, racing or most modern FPS games. Assassin's Creed looks interesting, but it's just not enough to convince me to buy a PS3. It certainly has a range of titles, I'm not disputing that, it's just not the sort of line-up that I personally find appealing.

I love Wii Sports because of its interactivity. Playing a sports game similiarly to how it is played IRL is more appealing to me than using joysticks and buttons.

Fair enough what you like is what you like and I only mentioned those games because those are the ones I have and enjoy they may have more from different genres I am not to sure.

Yes I enjoy Wii sports, my cousin has the Wii and I play it quite a lot when i am over there, but I don't like the Wii as a console.

Yes indeed the interactivity is fun of course there are games on the PS3 which employ the six axis motion sensitive feature Dragon's Lair, Motorstorm (I know you said you didn't like it) and Blazing Angels. And hopefully game makers will start using this feature and incorporating it into their games. And Playstation does have games similar to Wii Sports in regard to interaction this but is part of a PS2 format (which can be played on PS3) Singstar and Guitar Hero are the main ones

Since the Xbox 360 is the only one I own I'm going to have to go with that. It has all the games that I like and the console itself (at least now) is a stable and strong piece of hardware. Online is good too. Simple.

The Wii comes in second (it's the only other console I've played at any length). It's fun, but I'd like to see more games that actually make use of the wiimote. Almost all the games I've played on the Wii I can play better using a Gamecube controller.

I cannot pass judgment on the PS3, having not played it.

I was gonna get a wii. But then mass effect...

so I have a 360. Btw, Assassin's Creed is on the 360. And it's a bit of let down because you're led to believe it's a stealth game when it's really not. However, free stepping is extremely fun.

360 for me, for four main reasons: Halo 3, Oblivion, Guitar Hero and Fable 2.

But I split my 360 time with my PC.

I play games for their story (except for Guitar Hero... thats just for rocking out) and I've found that there are more affordable, good story driven games for the 360.

Plus the Wii is too close to exercise for me....

Xbox 360 for me. It has the best line up of games by a long way. I mean games like Fable 2 and Ninja gaiden 2 are on their way, how can I resist?

The Wii is the next best. It's got a fun design, but in the end it felt the same as a controller, just with larger movements. Controllers allow for more skill and speed, and in that regard all the consoles hold up.

PS3 is the worst. I've played it alot and it's a good console, just has a worse game line up than the 360 and no advantage of a Wii remote. Plus it's the most expensive.

That's because it's also a Blu-ray player. And it happens to be the cheapest one of those.

Don't even try fighting with them. ;)

Myself? Lurve mah 360 (only for sports games because they fuck over the PC in that regard), Wii is . . . interesting (Brawl is understandably awesome), and PS3 just seems like a glorified PS2 with Blu-ray, at this point. I mean, what the hell is up with those shitty frame rates for identical games? I never thought that was an applicable criticism, but it just keeps showing up. No doubt it's powerful, but it really doesn't have much to make it special.

I like the Wii personally.

Wii games are different. It is completely due to the Wiimote, but most games have quite different gameplay from previous console games. The Xbox360 and PS3 both seem like there predecessors just with the graphics kicked up a notch. Too be honest, I wasn't too happy with there predecessors either. The games where starting to get boring due to similarity.

Can you play GameCube games on the Wii? Because one of the advantages of the XBox360 and PS3 is the transferability of their games of the previous generation- you can play XBox games on the 360 and PS2 games on the PS3. Nintendo has never picked that up and I think they should.

I don't like consoles. So I don't play on them. That said, I'm happy for Nintendo that they've made such an incredible comeback in the last couple of years. It's good to see somebody actually innovating, rather than pumping out the same dross that has been boring the shit out of us for so long now.

The backwards compatability on the 360 sucks... half the games dont work and the ones that do are glitchy and slow. It's the other thing I dont like about the 360...

Yep, the Wii has backwards capability.

It can play all previous Gamecube titles, and has 4 in-built Gamecube controller ports and 2 Memory Card slots to support this function.

Also, with the virtual console, you can play a whole range of games dating back to the NES all the way to the N64, I believe. Although I think you need to purchase and download the games online first.

yeah i got a RROD but they swapped it straight away in the shop and the new one's working fine. i do expect it to die in a year or two, at which time i'll get a 360 Elite or whatever console has replaced it by then.

a lot of the Virtual Console games i downloaded don't seem to work with 50 Hz TVs... or something. basically the screen goes blank, and yet i can hear the sound and play the games. not all of them do this, but its annoying when even one does it considering i paid for them

it could just be that my HDTV doesn't support that resolution, cos i have the same kind of thing sometimes when i try to play divx movies of too low resolution on my 360.

WII WILL WII WILL ROCK YOU! Sorry. Had too:D
The Wii, the 360 has a few bugs like I don't know say... The Red ring of death!!!!! The PS3 is too expensive, not enough good games and the sixaxis controller has serious handling problems. The Wii needs some more games, but it's the most unique of the consoles, and it has motion sensing! (Yes, I am a Nintendo fanboy:D) So the Wii, without a doubt, is the best. I still like Halo 3 though.

I think the PS3 has the better games right now. The XBox games are predominantly shooters, and how many shooters can one person really ever play? The last shooter I found entertaining was GoldenEye on the N64.

Plus, you can run a KBM setup on the PS3 without any special adapters.

Tie between PS3 and Wii. PS3 has the most graphic potential (note I said potential, potential it is not curretly living up to), a blue ray player, and the most impressive hardware. Its basically a super computer. The Xbox 360 cant even compete with its potential. Unfortunitally, its not currently living up to that potential. But it does have Resistance: Fall of Man. Which is he best FPS currently out there.

Wii is fantastic for its ability to go online and buy old school NES, SNES, and N64 games with credits. That and it has Super Smash Brothers Brawl. But mostly it rules for the old school gaming potential.
