Breakfast is the Most Imporant Meal of the Day

This is what we've been taught, and that's what many of us have come to believe is true.
I try and have something for breakfast every day...
Like this morning, my breakfast is a vanilla pudding cup.
What do you normally eat for breakfast, and what's the most unusual thing you've ever eaten? And pizza doesn't count as unusual.
EDIT - I must be really groggy because I didn't notice who I posted with until after I made the post.

Not sure what a vanilla pudding cup is, but it sounds nice
I'm trying to eat a more filling breakfast to stop me snacking at work, so am trying porridge (made with oats and milk, not one of these microwaves meals)
Normally I don't eat breakfast since I get up when people normally have lunch, so I combine them I guess. During the week I almost always eat a sandwich (I think that's the correct name, it's a baguette with many vegetables and other stuff on it) with soup and some orange juice and water at my university. Then I eat a second meal after I go swimming.
During the weekend I get up when we eat lunch so I eat whatever the other people in my house are having.
I've had sushi for breakfast a few times. Nothing like a little wasabi to wake you the hell up!

I love the European breakfast cold meats, bread rolls, danish, yoghurt, cheese beautiful when I was in Europe I loved going down stairs of the hotel to have the European breakfast I love it.
Strangest thing ever had for breakfast two meals tossing up between Meat pie and a bottle of coke or a Whopper with Cheese

Crossaint or cereal if i'm lucky, on a bad day, nothing.
I find my bigger meals are later in the day, hence my messed up sleeping patterns.
I usually eat microwaved oatmeal for breakfast with a cup of coffee. It's actually fairly nice for a morning meal, imo, as it has enough sugar in it to help you get out of morning grogginess and keeps you comfortably full until you can get a real meal into your system.
Most unusual breakfast? Hrmm....probably my dinner ramen, which is mostly a vegetable stew with spices and ramen thrown in, from the night before microwaved to warm goodness (couldn't finish it the night before and I hate wasting carrots and my Chinese veggies and spices since they're a pain to drive out and buy). Or cottage cheese and sour cream, but that doesn't strike me as weird (I grew up eating it), though my roommates and friends think it's strange. *shrug*

What I normally eat - Nothing
What I love for breakfast - Ulster fry
Wierdest thing i've had for breakfast - Live crabs in chilli sauce
It's either
a) One or two pretzels with butter on them
b) A big bowl of Smacks/cornflakes/Krunchy with milk
c) Fruit (usually grapefruit and/or kiwis)
d) nothing
e) whatever my flatmates are having for lunch

Usually some sort of muesli or granola type cereal and a cup of tea. The tea is the important part.
Weirdest breakfast would probably be bacon flavour instant noodles (which, obviously, were vegetarian), with canned nacho cheese and a can of beer. Eaten at about four in the afternoon, just in time for Countdown. Looking back, I'm disgusted with myself.

Probably is. I think I remember learning in school something about how what we eat soon after we get up adjusts our metabolism for the rest of the day...
Anyway, normally for breakfast I have that "Turboz" cereal you might've seen advertised on TV; it's supposedly also a meal replacement. Granted, it's a childrens' cereal, but I'm kinda short and skinny for my age so I guess I'm kinda like a kid physically. That and how my diabetes nurse recommended it anyway.
EDIT: As for the most unusual thing, I'm not sure... o.o

I normally have some toast or Bacon & Eggs or occasionally Cheerios.

Or,
Toast with Marmite and Ketchup.

Ditto.
I stopped eating breakfast for 8 years when I was in school because I thought more sleep would be better for me. Turns out you burn more calories durring the day if you eat something when you first wake up.
Usually, I'll have either an apple, oatmeal, toast or cold cereal for breakfast. If I don't have to be anywhere in the morning I usually sleep through breakfast and hop onto lunch when I get up.
Strangest thing I've ever eaten for breakfast? Uhh... that... bean curd/onion slop over rice we had for breakfast after the kendo Christmas Party x_x Let me tell you, a bubbling bowl of beige that smells distinctly like vomit is the last thing you want to eat after a night of heavy drinking.

I either have poptarts or oatmeal for breakfast on school days. On weekend days my mom makes either biscuits or cinnamon rolls and either bacon or sausage (usually bacon), or occasionally biscuits and gravy. Every once in a while I make myself scrambled eggs for breakfast.
Turns out you burn more calories durring the day if you eat something when you first wake up.
But if you don't take breakfast, you also take up less calories, don't you?
Usually a couple of slices of toast with with butter and/or jam (preferably raspberry).
Strangest... flaming hot Monster Munch and a beer.
We call that continental in the UK.
In the US as well; where I'm from at least.
My ideal breakfast would be a bagel with cream cheese, every morning. Sadly, the frequency of this meal does not follow any sort of daily trend.
What do you normally eat for breakfast, and what's the most unusual thing you've ever eaten?.
I usually have either a bowl of cereal (if I'm not working) or a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich on a muffin (when I am working, and no not from McDonalds).

Anyway, I don't eat much. Half a piece of cake or something, or I'll eat early when working. During holidays... well, there is no such thing as morning for me. Yay for sleeping till lunch!

I don't know the actual science to it, it's just supposedly better. It might have something to do with your body hoarding calories when you finally do eat because it thinks that it is starving. *shrugs* :p

Urban Myth.
This wisdom about breakfast is still touted by nutritionists, dietitians and the school system almost world wide.
Something which was once said that I still remember about what you should eat mind you a very rarely follow it.
Breakfast: Eat like a King
Lunch: Eat like a Queen
Dinner: Eat like a pauper
And one more breakfast item which I forgot to add in my post. Leftovers whether it is Pizza or Chinese takeaway or just the last slice of lasagna that no one could finish the night before beautiful especially when eaten cold, pizza especially.

I'm not sure if having a vanilla pudding cup falls into the realms of a 'healthy breakfast', haha. You should probably try to have fruit smoothie with yoghurt or protein powder, or some cereal or something...
I have some eggs or pancakes for french toast, maybe fruit, a protein shake, and a glass of juice. Breakfast is AMAZING
Yumm.
I normally just have a coffee (with heaps of milk), but on the weekends my fiance and I will make eggs, toast, bacon, mushrooms and all sorts of yummy things. If I'm hungover, I probably end up eating something obscure like chocolate on popcorn or something, and if I'm actually trying to be healthy I have fruit or a fruit smoothie with protein powder or yoghurt.

A quick glance at wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breakfast#Nutrition) teaches me that there is no nutritionists concensus about breakfasts. I guess it's one of those common knowledge types of things that aren't really based on reality. Anyway, most people here seem to eat really fat foods for breakfast, I doubt that is healthier than not eating breakfast.

Well, no, most nutritionists don't follow that "logic". Your breakfast, lunch and dinner should all contain some form of protein and a small-medium amount of carbohydrate, and the nurtitionists I've seen recommend that the kilojoules for each meal be about the same - about 1200 for a 16-year-old girl in recovery. Snacks were allowed to be about 300 kilojoules (if you want to convert that to calories, do it yourself) which is about a medium banana, or a punnet of blueberries, or a small amount of nuts. And you have to space your meals out evenly, like so: 7, 10, 1, 4, 7.
out of interest, what do nutritionists do?
I mean do they watch other people eat their breakfast or something?
No. Well, very rarely some psychologists or other ED recovery people will go to lunch at cafes with their patients to ensure they eat/study their eating/chat about food.
When you see a nutritionist or a dietician, you normally sit in their office and discuss what foods you currently eat, what foods you like, what you're struggling with diet-wise, if you're getting sick a lot, if you exercise etc. They then work out a meal plan with you, which can be a vague outline or detailed with recipes and everything. Then you go back to them, sometimes they weigh you, and you work out if you can add anything else or if it's working etc.

Sweetheart, wiki isn't exactly DIET101 now, is it?
While a lot of nutritionists disagree about a lof of things (for example, some nutritionists tell you to avoid too many complex carbs, while others encourage you to eat them in medium amounts), good nutritionists generally seem to think breakfast is important, even if you're just having a smoothie (which is what two nutritionists I've seen have recommended).
While eating 'uneahlthy' foods for breakfast isn't "good" for you, it's important to eat something in the mornings, otherwise it can lead to bingeing later in the day and can make your metabolism sluggish. The word breakfast literally means you haven't eaten for about 10 hours, and you need to break the fast.

Usually Cheerios or Shredded Wheat.
I do like to go out to a diner for a big omelet and hash browns, though, when I get the chance. I never cook that for myself, though, because I have zero energy in the morning for doing anything: pouring milk on the cereal is about as much complication as I can handle, and thank God for instant coffee.
usually I have a bowl of cereal.
Cereal and a cup of green tea (weekdays at school) or eggs and/or bagels and/or cereal and a glass of iced coffee (everytime else). My favorite cereal is probably Arrowhead Mills Organic Maple Buckwheat Flakes, which, I think, in and of itself makes me a grade-A jerk.

i usually buy a pie or sausage roll on my way into work. if i have time at home i'll have cereal or a couple of pieces of toast with marmite or jam or whatever. when i start work really early (before the pie shop opens) i get a bacon roll from the early opening sandwich shop across the road from work. until recently i'd also make a cup of coffee at home. but i stopped doing that when i realised that the cup i was drinking was the equivalent of six espressos rather than just strong coffee as i originally thought. now i just make a double espresso when i get in to work.

But if you don't take breakfast, you also take up less calories, don't you?
While yes that is true in the fact that you won't take in calories in the morning, the next time you eat your body thinking that it is getting less food will take in more calories then normal (i.e. your metabloism slows down) so in fact you put on weight unless you do a lot of exercise which will force the body to release more energy, but then will take on more next time you eat. That is why they say the breakfast is an important meal.
If you eat more at breakfast (the start of your day) you will burn off most of the calories taken in, in some countries USA UK and Australia to name a few the main meal is dinner at the end of their day, after this most people sit back and relax and then go to sleep not burning off any of the calories and thus the remaining energy converts into fat. In Europe the main meal is lunch and they eat little in the evening and quite a bit a breakfast, thus burning the energy during the day rather than letting it accumulate in our bodies to convert to fat.
