The Bad Kind of Shock and Awe

This alarming news would fall under the category of "The Surge is working; however, the Surge Protector is not."
Soldier Electrocutions Probed in Iraq (http://abcnews.go.com/US/WireStory?id=4488293&page=1)
The troops out there are risking their necks on a daily basis serving their country even if they were sent on what amounts to a monkey's whim. Looking all around for snipers, suicide bombers, and IEDs. And when they actually manage to end the day alive, there's a good chance the soldiers are hot, sticky, sweaty and looking to feel fresh and comfortable again. So they step into a shower.
And then... ZAP.
If it's not the insurgents killing them, it's the contractors that are. Apparently when it comes to Supporting the Troops, someone forgot to ask if it was AC or DC.
This is just further proof that Iraq has been transformed into a contractors' field day where nepotism and incompetence go hand and hand. And they both add up to more dead soldiers.

Only if it's not getting government grants.
Those poor soldiers got shocked... I am in awe at the incompetence of these contracters.

But but but, this would never have happened if it hadn't been for government intervention! The private sector is self-regulating, see, and only the presence of government can explain why this company got such contracts despite being so incompetent!
And they probably hired foreigners, too. Foreigners can't do the job as well as honest hardworking Americans after all.

The market's self-correction mechanism works only after the fact, by people reacting to something bad that happened. In that it's not all that different to the law, because that doesn't prevent bad things from happening in the first place either.
Basically now the government needs to cancel the contracts and sue for whatever case of negligence applies, which is no different to anyone else's reaction if something like this happened, whether in Iraq or the US.
That's a horrible way to die. Seriously wow, that just sucks...

Cold water lol... I remember in Nicaragua we ALWAYS had cold water to shower in... In America I remember I made it way too hot the first few times, burned myself a lot xD.
Now, getting electrocuted to death, that's a completely different story.
I'm shocked by this news
So where about 2 dozen american soldiers...

I just hope Ample time is made to find the source of these disasters
No doubt they will have a well grounded defense.
I think the court will be stunned by the evidence, though no doubt over the course of the case some of the charges will have dropped
On a serious note, the company should be investigated and be sued for millions by both the US Government and the Soldier's families for wrongful deaths. It would be nice to see thier license removed too...

Indeed, this negligence is shocking. Simply shocking.

Maybe so, but by now, they will have likely gone to ground. And no doubt, few charges will be attracted their way, as they will most likely have greased enough palms to make them resistant to any charges.

From the article:
In a Jan. 21 memo responding to questions from Maseth's family, the Army's criminal investigations division said the Chinese-made pump was acquired before KBR took over maintenance of the building and did not meet U.S. safety standards.
Once again defective Chinese products inflict American casualties.

They may be the larger country but it would stillbe folly to attempt open warfare, this is all just part of a much larger agenda!

An attempt to electrify their industry no doubt, on charged US dollars, whose reckless expenditures positively affect their alternating currency. People should be, are shocked, but with their world views so grounded in the earth of apathy, they remain without a volt of vibrancy, their perceptions so mis-wired.

Please tell me you aren't being serious? People hired by the US government chose to buy and install the product. The US government is to blame. IF they were hired through proxies and contractors and 10 links of shadow companies before it gets to the US government, they are the employer. The buck stops there.

That will probably depend on which circuit the case is heard in. Expect the prosecution to appeal if they come up short.
