"Police in Italy have issued footage of a man who is suspected of hypnotising supermarket checkout staff to hand over money from their cash registers".

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7309947.stm

Now that has to be one of the weirdest crime sprees of all time.

Another reason I'm never going to a hypnotist.

you' know technically he hasn't committed any crime I can think of and I should know because that bastard stole my backup if I mess up a career in psychology:mad:

Italian police believe the suspect could be of Indian or North African extraction.

or right well he's screwed then

Wonder if he'll tell the cops "this is not the man you are looking for" or wait and hypnotize the judge to rule him innocent and bring him some orange sherbert.

This is better than simply lying, he should become a lawyer or politician.

He would make a great lawyer a 100% success rate and he would make a lot more money too.

Maybe the people are cooperating with him for a cut of the money... No one would ever suspect a 'hypnotized' victim.

LG is behind this one, I´m sure. He wants to make an army of hypnotized clowns in order to pie the entire world into submission. He´s already started, Italy has fallen under his creamy nonsensical plan.

Don't you need to let yourself be hypnotised?

Yes. If you really do not want to, it won't work (unless drugged).

You will also not do anything you would normally refuse to do, though that of course can be circumvented through suggestion (a woman who would never strip in front of a strange man will still take her clothes off if you suggest to her she is alone and going to take a shower). What he suggested to the cashier would therefor be interesting.

Should we ask how you know this? ;)

and quite possible, i mean if you've ever seen one of Darren Browns shows (sure i know it's not reliable but some of it is interesting) despite the obvious set-ups there are some things that people can be coerced to do without knowing what they are doing, especially if that person is tired and confused. It seems people don't have as much free will as they are told they have.

Hypnotism is a very real crime (if done without the persons consent), and a very odd one too, of course in this case the hypotist could have known the cashier then the cashier would look innocent, but that's not very likely.
