Bin Laden threatens Europe for reprinting of Muhammed Cartoons

Knights of Liberty
20-03-2008, 02:24
Bin Laden says he considers the reprinting of the cartoons a more serious offense than the killing of women and children. He also adds the revenge for republishing the cartoons "will be more severe."

Bin Laden concludes his message by saying if there are no checks on the Europeans' freedom to speak, then there will be no checks on his freedom to act.

Im still under the opinion that hes been long dead and everything since maybe 03 has been a forgery, but I thought Id post this threat to discuss.

Personally I think Europe aught to publically come out and tell Bin Laden to shove it

Thank you for your infinitely important and well-informed opinion on European matters.

Does anyone really give a shit what the guy says any more?

Wow, what are you pissed about? It was a comment on how I feel about the threat. I figured it was more diplomatic then "Someone aught to tell Bin Laden to shove it."

And we had that big long topic on the cartoons, and then that topic about Greet, so I figured why not post this?

Because another REALLY VERY LONG DISCUSSION on the exact same grounds is going to be another battle of attrition between people who are obviously right, and morons, and do we really want that?

Sometime the collective minds of people is just humiliating. And now even good old Osama is buying into it. I'd have thought he could come up with a more creative reason to want to attack Europe. This saddens me.

Now on another note. Did you guys know that making images of the prophet is actually not illegal in Islam? Making an idol out of him (That is, like what happened to Jesus in Christianity, they worship him) is illegal. But making images of him is not, in fact Muslims have been making images of him for centuries.

The anger about these cartoons, from the small group of Muslims who actually seem to try and understand their religion, is that they attempt to iconize the prophet. That they want to use that icon then to attack Islam is another story, but that is what the intent is, to provide him as a representation as what Islam is, which he is not. He is only the messanger.

And then there's the masses who believe whatever any idiot tells them. So some idiot cleric says "they're bad because they show the phophet!", and everyone follows along.

QFT. Most of the people complaining about the cartoons (including many of the non-Muslims who insisted that they were 'bigoted' and 'racist') never even saw them. It's also worth noting that the clerics who incited riots the first time round added some cartoons which weren't even in the Danish collection to make it seem more offensive.

Ho. Ly. Shit.

The sad thing is, that's actually half believable. If he'd get upset over a cartoon, he'd just as easily get irked by a holiday.

In Europe we've actually managed to survive each other. Considering who that includes over the centuries, I don't think a few hundred yahoos on the run in Pakistan are that much of a worry.

I agree, though I'd rather we just live and let live rather than our tryign to go on a land grab for a pipeline and base, and them claiming divine right to stop us. AQ also should learn the difference between Europe and the US. Threats fail to cause hysterical news broadcasts and paranoia in most of Europe.

More like Bin Laden is marketing his appeal specifically to the fringe fruitcake squad that all ready finds the Danish cartoons to be offensive.

Freedom of speech is one thing, but using it to bait and provoke a violent response to prove you case- in this case "Moslems r eb1l"- is abuse of the freedom of speech, akin to shouting "Fire" in a crowded theater.

Yep, especially as there seems to have been a sharp downward trend in the seriousness of Islamist attacks on the West:

-11th September 2001: hijackers fly planes into the WTC
fatalities: ~3,000
casualties: ~6,000.

-11th March 2004: ten explosions on packed commuter trains in Madrid
fatalities: ~200
casualties: ~1,750

-7th July 2005: four suicide attacks on the London Underground
fatalities: ~50
casualties: ~700

-21st July 2005: four attempted suicide attacks on the London Underground
fatalities: 0
casualties: 1 person suffers an asthma attack

-20th March 2008: Bin Laden posts an abusive videotape on the internet.
fatalities: 0
casualties: 0

Nobody is hysterically afraid here in the U.S either. That's just the media trying to make a quick buck off the story.

It isn't.

I've come to find that some of these radical religious people are smarter and more respectful then the vast majority of idiots I have seen around the western world. I don't like bin Laden, and I'd love to see him dead and his silly little group crushed, but I certianly have more respect for him then some of the people who want to voice their ignorant thoughts on just about anything.

And before anyone wants to accuse me of something stupid, like being a "radical muslim" or some crap like that, I'm a polytheist, aka NUMERO UNO on the list of people they want to kill. If I end up with more respect for some of them then I have for some of the people I've seen in the western world, then something is seriously wrong.
