'Tis the season...

I'd like to start a fantasy baseball keeper league. That's a league where a certain amount of players on each roster are 'kept' from one year to the next.

Having played fantasy sports with some NS folks in the past, I thought that maybe the NS community would be the place to go in my search for fellow players.

If anyone is interested in such a longitudinal enterprise, please let me know.

I've thought about how the league could be run from year to year, but I haven't really decided on anything such as rosters or scoring format. I figure I need to gauge the interest of the other owners first. Some people prefer a weekly Head-to-Head format; others prefer a season-long Roto style. I enjoy playing both, so I don't have a preference.

No real details for the league are set in stone, so if you're interested in building a league from the ground up, please let me know.

What type of game does everyone prefer? Weekly Head to Head, or year-long Roto? Any certain nuance or style that you like, as it pertains to scoring and/or rosters?

Excellent. Six so far. I'd like to get at least 10, but even more would be great.

Does anyone have a preference as to the Format? Head to Head, or Roto? Don't be shy...some people despise one or the other, so speak up if you have an opinion...

Being as I'm trying to form a Keeper League, we should probably discuss how many Keepers you take from year to year. Anywhere from 4-7 is a good number, I think, and you forfeit a draft pick equivalent to One Round higher than you selected the player the previous year. For example, if you select someone in the 15th round this year, and you choose to carry them over to next year, you forfeit a 14th Round pick. Players claimed on Waivers who were drafted retain their round status as initially selected; players who go undrafted, and are claimed as Free Agents, would have a round status of X assigned to them (X being, say, the 15th round).

I've thought a lot of this through, but I'm looking for any input that fellow league members want to provide. I've never been in a Keeper League before, although I am a fantasy baseball junkie and it was only a matter of time.

Also...what is everyone's opinion on Draft dates & times? Weeknight vs. Weekend, whose time zone are we going by...etc.

So, anyways, I'm hoping that more people see this and are enticed to join. If nobody has any feedback on how the league should be set-up and run, I'll go unilateral, but I'm hoping that won't be the case.

I can't wait until Opening Day.

I submitted another post in this thread last night, about how many Keepers we should have and other such topics. It said that it would be reviewed by a Mod before being posted. Never had that happen before; it makes me feel kinda dirty.
