Apparently two dipshits confused the police station with the bank and therefore walked in and tried to rob it. Rob the police station. They obviously failed because, you know, it was a police station.
If only there was a good way to remove these people from the gene pool -_-

I'd rather successful criminals be removed from the genepool.

But we only send them to prison, where they learn to be better criminals.
Considering they're only 12 and 14, there ought to be a better sentence than prison. Maybe community service at the county jail? Clean up after the inmates -- wash dishes, clean showers... Just enough contact with the inmates to find out that they aren't nice people and that extended time in jail isn't desirable.

I think this bit explains their motivations and choice of target.
Police spokesman Rob Vega says the kids were laughing and remarked, "We'll be famous now."

cool, maybe they were hosting a distraction for the police while a real robbery took place that stole items of value. leaving people fawning over how daft those kids are leaving the real robbers get away.

they were laughing and said "well be famous now". obviously they thought they would be cool to get in trouble. they will probably go to juvenile court maybe go to jail get community service and go on some type of diversion program all on the expense to the tax payer. all up to their 18th birthday where because of the great system we have it will be wiped clean off of their records with the help of some lawyers.

I think it would be stupid to punish a grown up for something stupid he did when he was twelve. They probably thought it would be funny or something, I think it would be better to punish them now by letting them do community service and keep an eye on them while they grow up to make sure they don't become 'real criminals' than to still let them pay when they are grown ups.
