The obvious answer, as qualified by their language, is that they are really, really horrible spellers. To the point of putting letters in places that contradict their pronunciation. :p

Clearly the European media are conspiring to destroy the immaculate reputation of the republican party....or, to make it seem like the republicans are involved in a little more hetero sex scandals, which they've been notably distant from for some time - meaning the frogs and the elephants are colluding (or canoodling, as Amor might put it)
