I was watching the Sarah Connor Chronicles last night when I realised something about the whole Terminator thing has always bothered me. John Connor is supposed to become this great leader who saves humanity from the machines - yet to me he always comes across as an uncharismatic whiny little mother's boy. Sarah Connor I could believe as a leader but John no way. Does anybody here think John Connor shows leadership potential?

Yeah, I can't exactly see myself following him.

As a teenager? No. But then there aren't a lot of teenagers I would follow.

Given the alternative is being destroyed by a robot, I guess I would follow at least one gang.

I'd go with him if I wanted to live.

Would it mean not being exterminated in one horrible fashion or another? In that case, what the hell...

Somehow I find it hard to see the teenager going through some massive transformation that turns him into this great leader.

That's a stupid question; the films have proved that the future in the Terminator universe is fixed, so that either way, John Connor will be a great leader.

Hollywood has to happen to him. It's a traumatizing experience that forcefully matures them. :p

Screw Connor, I'd follow the female terminator.

Nothing like a bit of mecha action ;)

I think it would be funny if the terminaters periodically bluescreened for no good reason and had to randomly reboot.

Build a loverbot and cuddle the cold, hard, heavy steel then. :p

The female terminator is a fierce dragon, the male terminator is a noble knight and John Connor is not a warlord but a damsel in distress.

"But I was going to Tashi station to pick up some power converters!"

Luke Skywalker was a whiny bitch at first, too. People can change.

He was replaced by a replicant! Where is a blade runner when you need one?

Either Yoda or the Force possessed him :p.

You mean, other than witnessing a thermonuclear war you knew of in advance and were unable to stop?

Well as he knows about it in advance it is not going to be some massive life changing event.

Hearing/seeing the death and whatnot would probably put some resolve in anyone. I mean, his lieutenants were HS kids...
