"Studies show no society that has totally embraced homosexuality has lasted more than, you know, a few decades"

"One of my colleagues said We don't have a gay problem in our community... well you know what, that is so dumb. If you have cancer in your little toe, do you just say that I'm going to forget about it since the rest of you is fine?"

Just a couple among a few choice statements by an elected representative.

Enjoy this speech by Sally Kern, state representative for Oklahoma.

Hey - if you are gonna fit the whole history of the earth in 6000 years you need to compress stuff.

all i can say, is "fascinating", in the vulcan sense, which in such context is gennerally interpreted as a polite euphamism for bullshit.

have any of those turkeys ever heard of alexandrean greece?

sure EVENTUALLY the fell to rome, a rome which didn't begin with any great qualms about homosexuality either. even, or perhapse i should say especially, among the ranks of its military. nor for that matter, it's leadership in either case.

We hamsters feel insulted and demand you take your hate speech elsewhere thanks.

I'm all for free speech and all but seriously, does this not warrant some kind of penalty?

Sorry - but you cannot argue against studies. Especially unnamed studies that contradict reality to promote a political agenda - those are fundamental to society.

I wonder which studies those are, and I wonder if Mrs. Kern would be aware that an argument could very well be made that Christianity led to the Fall of Rome...

Yes and no. The Romans weren't as accepting of homosexuality as the Greeks were (read about the "Queen of Bithynia", for one), but the practice did exist for quite some time in Imperial times and never had an outright ban until 390- during the reign of Theodosius I, the first proper Christian Emperor.

I suspect it was A Study of Sodom and Gomorrah by the Reverend Homer J. Fobe.

"Studies show no society that has totally embraced homosexuality has lasted more than, you know, a few decades"That's not really saying much
No society that has embraced cellular phones has (yet) lasted more than a few decades.
No society that has embraced reality TV shows has (yet) lasted for more than a few decades.
No society that has embraced internet technology has (yet) lasted more than a few decades.
No society that has had me in it has (yet) lasted for more than a few decades.
etc.

I pity Oklahoma for it's poor representation. Of course, they get what they vote for, I assume..
