A few days ago, I guess? I'm going through a ridiculous emotional period right now, and I sporadically burst into tears. I usually try and stop, though, so it's not like I'm indulging in sobfests on a daily basis. It's just that little things keep setting me off. :p

The Notebook always makes me cry.
I don't think I'll ever watch it again, I needed a fucking towel at the end.
Also, The Fiddler on the Roof, when Tewje sings about his youngest daughter (who he cast out earlier). I was 17 then.
The Switch, when at the end I thought I'll never know how it is to give birth to a child (a propos substance abuse: I was drunk at that moment).

As for a movie, song or story: I have never cried.

It's pretty good, I've got to say. I got some really rubbish accomodation in the first year, but it's been knocked down. They're throwing a lot of money at accomodation atm. Only other thing I'd say is don't go for the Forge or Opal. You're miles from anyone else. The halls or self-catered accomodation in Broomhill's your best bet. In fact, I'd say self-catered in Broomhill's best, yeah. Try for Crescent flats or one of the houses on Endcliffe Crescent, if you can. I can't remember what the accomodation form was like, so I'm not sure how specifically you get to choose.

Heh, last weekend at the All-State orchestra performance, where my son was playing. (He's a violist.) I don't think there was a dry eye in the house in fact, lots of teary moms and dads there. The music was amazing!

As an aside--I wish there was a better word for music when it is so moving it brings such emotion as tears..."amazing" is the best I can think of but seems so lacking and inadequate really. :(

Why would there be a word for it? Music has always been far better at eliciting emotions in us than mere words.

Other than bizarre reflexive crying for getting into trouble, I've only honestly cried twice. Ever. The first was about two years ago after the end of my first quasi-relationship. The second was sparked by hearing Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls right after being rejected by a girl named Iris and while E-mailing one of my exes who loved the song. Life is so sweetly ironic sometimes.

The feeling of proudness at hearing your child perform will certainly add to it. In general I'd describe it as a general euphoria, regardless of whether it's 'sad' or 'joyful' (or both), but as a marker of how strong the reaction is upon listening. Or I call it, simply, 'beautiful music', as that holds a strong emotional connotation as well as a respectful one towards the performer(s) and composer.

Words in general are an implicit problem in studying emotion.

Well, there's a shocker.

My last good cry was when I got home from MEPS after having successfully joined the Navy. It was a happy sort of cry, an "I did it" sort of cry. It made me feel better since I was rather tense.

Last week, I believe. Very unexpected. I was up late tooling around online and listening to iTunes and "From Arkansas, With Love" came up. It usually provokes an emotional response from me because I listened to it endlessly when I broke up with my bf last January. We got back together since then, but very little has changed... it's a sort of soul-crushing situation that I can't find a way to leave behind, and I have many good cries over it.

That's funny, I cry fairly regularly (1-2 times a month) but not when I have nervous breakdowns. I don't feel anything when I have them. okay, it's not really funny, just interesting.

Single tear here or there isnt what I was picturing, but thats probably my fault.

Day before yesterday. I'm that dreadful combination of "terribly emotional" and "quick to tears", so whenever I read/watch/hear something 'emotional', or am even remotely sad/distressed/disappointed, I'll cry. What with currently being in a somewhat unfortunate relationship, you can count on me having a "good cry" at least every other day.

But me crying does not usually have to mean something awful happened; often enough I just decide I need a bit of an emotional relief /even-out time, put on some emotional music and have myself some good cry time.
