Yes, truth is stranger than fiction. Or did he make this up?

Is this post really a test of your beliefs? Or not?

And what is this "truth serum"? What, was he waterboarded?

CENTERTON, Ark. -- The mayor of an Arkansas town resigned on Wednesday, claiming he was abducted and brainwashed by Satan worshippers nearly three decades ago.

Centerton Mayor Ken Williams said he has been living under an assumed name for nearly 30 years. He had been mayor since 2001.

Williams told authorities he was born Don LaRose and that in the mid-1970s, he was a preacher in Indiana. He said he was abducted and brainwashed into forgetting all about his life as Don LaRose.

It was a double-life he had never acknowledged, Williams said, because he didn't even realize it existed until he had recently taken a truth-serum injection.

Or should it read like this?

"Truth Serum" usually refers to sodium penothal (which I may have misspelled). As for his story I'm banking on either "recovered memory syndrome" or schizophrenia.

Has the former mayor ever been under hypnosis?
Remember, hypnosis can create false memories, but it can't make you remember real ones.

Otherwise, Satanists explicitly don't do that sort of thing, which means he's stole a plot from some B-movie as an excuse for resignation.

See my version of the story, it explains it all...

The existence of "satanists," is more or less a delusion/myth perpetuated by certain evangelical factions as a sort of bedtime story for the kids. No, the guy was not kidnapped by satanists, and no, they didn't brainwash him. :p The guy needs help.

yeah but did he have some kind of psychotic break that gave him an actual amnesia that he is just now coming out of or did he ditch his family and now make up this wild story so he doesnt get prosecuted for something?

Although I wouldn't be surprised to find that a small cult exists that fits the myth to a T.

me either. there are assholes everywhere so there really should be some "satanists" who are devoted to death and destruction of christian ministers.

i just doubt that this is what happened to mr. williams. such assholish groups dont have enough power to truly threaten anyone. he would have gone to the cops and that would have been the end of it.

*Snickers, then breaks out into insane laughter* HAHHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHHAHA!!! He expects us to believe that Satanists kidnapped and brainwashed him? What else happened? Did they hand him over to the Illumanti who traded him to the aliens for a few Spaceships, but not before they anal probed him? This guy is either crazy, or has nothing better to do than tell complete lies *Breaks out into laughter again*

that doesn't sound very realistic to me.
He should have said he suffers from amnesia.
But we all know the truth, it was him who Killed JFK!

It makes people loquacious. A common technique (before waterboarding became so popular anyway) for getting information used by the CIA was to inject a subject with enough drugs such as sodium penthetholl that they would essentially become stoned. The subject would then be drilled with questions by trained interrogators for several hours and left in isolation... sometimes with no food or water. After they came down they would be brought back before the interrogators who would then let on that they, or someone else, had already spilled the beans. It was pretty effective... but I still support good old thumbscrews for good intel.

Disclaimer: The last part was a joke!

It was Jaqueline Kennedy who killed John Kennedy! And Marylin Monroe!

The guy ran out on his wife and kids and, on being caught by them - I think they saw him in a news report somehow, essentially they found him - he comes up with this story.

It's a load of rubbish made up by a coward.

You can ask me to prove this but we had this thread before.
