Woman jailed for tea-pot worshipping

A woman has been jailed in Malaysia for joining a "tea-pot worshipping" cult.

Kamariah Ali, a 57 year old former teacher, was arrested in 2005 when the government of the Muslim majority country demolished the two storey high sacred tea pot of the Sky Kingdom cult.

For the sect, which emphasised ecumenical dialogue between religions, the tea pot symbolized the purity of water and "love pouring from heaven".

But in Malaysia, despite constitutional guarantees of freedom of worship, born Muslims such as Mrs Ali are forbidden from converting to other religions.

Passing sentence, the Sharia judge Mohammed Abdullah said: "The court is not convinced that the accused has repented and is willing to abandon any teachings contrary to Islam. I pray God will open the doors of your heart, Kamariah."

Mrs Ali has already been jailed once for apostasy, for 20 months in 1992.

"This has to stop. They can?t be sending her again and again to prison for this," her lawyer, Sa'adiah Din, told reporters.

"She informed the court that she is not a Muslim. She doesn't come under Sharia court anymore."

You don't need to build a teapot and worship it, k?

It's Malaysia. Self styled "religious police" run amok around the place, and the Sharia courts are kitted out with the biggest bigots and misanthropes you can find. Of course the ruling party pretends not to notice them, so as to seem more "Muslim" (it's not being more Muslim, its being a corrupt, retarded mess.)

At least a teapot exists in real life and isn't some invisible cloud faerie. Besides, teapots are quite practical and are good for not only serving tea but also serving as pots for plants.

Tea pot worship. That doesn't belong in jail, that belongs on television. You can't think up shit like this. :p

It sounds innocent enough. Come to think of it, worshipping a tea pot is not less logical than the concept of the Holy Trinity or the obligatory pilgrimage to Mecca, to name a few quaint things from other religions.

When I get all steamed up
Hear me shout
"Tip me over

Hey, at least it's not a global scam like Scientology, if they want to worship the tea pot, then let them. Hell I met people who worship cats, yea they're part of the Egyptain Neopagan movement, or so they say...

Is this that teapot orbiting the sun I've been hearing about? With all this talk about it, there just may be something to this faith. But I guess you can't really know one way or another. I will just have to be teapot agnostic.

What about the coffee cults? will they not try to attack this little tea idea, and ruin the tea party?

It's not the law that is the problem. It's the people. Malaysia has corrupt idiots in practically every governmental and legislative branch, and those who aren't idiots are just corrupt power hungry kooks who are doing their level best to strip the country dry to line their pockets.

Fuck the malay muslim hegemony in Malaysia. Religion is just the start of it, the real meat and potatoes is the racial supremacy that rules this country. Islam is like a tool they use to beat down the lesser races to ensure 'malay supremacy' (yes, they use this term officially). The real problem is malaysia is systemic, government sanctioned racism; all aimed at sustaining a demographic of bloated, lazy, uneducated and ultimately useless welfare-slaves.

That's part of where the money goes, but the biggest money sink is the majority party at the moment. They've had a 50 year stranglehold and aren't letting it go anytime soon. Every now and then, they blow umpteen billion dollars on prestige projects with no tangible benefits and then tell everyone how good they are. It's a huge sham.

Oh yes, who can forget the mahathirian megaprojects? Cyberjaya, KLIA, the crooked bridge.

Still, the basis of the national coalition is bumiputra and malay supremacy. UMNO must rule, and they pacify the MCA and MIC by giving them subordinate positions in the monopoly. Were it not for malay supremacy, the path would be clear for multiparty democracy. Right now, the very concept of a chinese prime minister would put the country trembling on the edge of revolution.

An interesting factoid. The Sino-Malay race riots of May 13 1969 appears to have begun shortly after UMNO lost the 2/3rds parliamentary majority necessary to rubber stamp constitution changes. Also, there is evidence that the original Malay rioters appear to have been bussed in by UMNO, and were voluntarily retrieved by army trucks when called by name rather than being arrested.

And of course, it was the reason cited for implementing aggressive affirmative action policies which was really just the reduction of non-Malays to 2nd class citizens.

The lovely thing is that now that elections are close in Malaysia, word in the grapevine, well not grapevine since they like to thunder about it, is that if they lose the 2/3rds majority, there may be another race riot similar to the original May 13 incident.

Oh, and police blocking opposition representatives from speaking or going anywhere near rallies. Not to mention spamming SMS's to everyone with fake information about where rallies are.
