They would have to pay me before I change to Vista.
Vista is why my next computer won't be a PC.
Microsoft is going to cut the price, hoping more people will upgrade to Trammel.. err Vista.
Microsoft cutting price of Vista
Microsoft has said it plans to cut the cost of its Windows Vista operating system sold at retail outlets.
Although no exact date has yet been given, Microsoft said price cuts would be introduced in 70 countries.
In the US, the cost of the most expensive version, Vista Ultimate, will be reduced to $319 (£161) from the current retail price of $399.
Analysts said Microsoft was aiming to boost the number of customers upgrading to Vista, which was introduced in 2007.
'Greater opportunities'
The price cuts apply to the packaged versions of Vista, which account for less than 10% of its sales.
By contract, 90% of Vista sales are to PC manufacturers, which the operating system is pre-installed.
"We anticipate these changed will provide greater opportunities... to sell more stand-alone copies of Windows," said Brad Brooks, a Microsoft corporate vice president.
Microsoft says it has now sold 100 million Vista licences since it was launched.
I can't say I'm even remotely interested in Vista yet, though next time I upgrade my computer I might be, depends.

I've got Vista sitting here on disc, and that is where it is staying. I have a high end machine, and to be frank with drivers the way they are and application compatibility still being quite low and with overall stability being lousy i'm sticking with X64 for the foreseeable future. Its good they are bringing the price down, but they should finish service pack one, get it shipped then cut the price, sort there product out a bit first.
My overall opinion on Vista is "meh". IME, it doesn't suck as badly as some people say, but it's nothing special either.

It seems okay to me, which can be translated as I haven't see it fall over yet.

Indeed, Vista is the reason why my new computer isn't a PC.

I only know one person with Vista, my brother. He bought it and spent two days trying to get his home network working before giving up and reinstalling XP. Apparently it's a known issue.

Vista is not *that* bad. But it is not worth a penny over $ 100.
