LONDON — A London court on Tuesday convicted seven men of involvement in a terrorist training plot that included “camping weekends” in remote English parkland. During the sessions, dozens of young Muslims were trained to throw imaginary grenades, to stage mock ambushes with rifles fashioned from branches and to chop watermelons in simulated beheadings.

One of the plot leaders, Mohammed Hamid, a 50-year-old Tanzanian-born preacher in a London mosque, called himself Osama bin London when first confronted by the police in 2004, the court was told.

During a four-year covert operation by Scotland Yard and MI5, the domestic intelligence agency, an undercover police officer made videos, shown in court, of terrorist training sessions in rural retreats around Britain.

Prosecutors said Mr. Hamid had told associates that he planned attacks in Britain before the 2012 Olympics in London.

Among the recruits who joined the training sessions were five of the six African-born men convicted of complicity in the abortive plot to replicate the July 2005 transit bombings in London two weeks after the explosions.

It took somebody this long to come up with ‘Osama bin London’?

*is distinctly unimpressed*

This is a disgrace to the memory of those who died in the tragic events of the 9th of November.

a) the name is rubbish. I mean come on, where's the traditional British wit?

b) the training weekends sound rubbish too.

I don't need to negotiate with you

I know where you live...according to your location it's where I live...so I can conduct a commando style raid or assassination on you...or I might just drop two laser guided bombs on your location (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abu_Musab_al-Zarqawi#Zarqawi.27s_death)

watch your back, or hand back my thread peacefully...
