And that armor is almost the same as the one I have.

I also have a couple of grenades hiding somewhere ;)

What have you got?

I don't have any airsoft guns (yet), but I do have paintball markers. If I do decide to get an airsoft gun, it'll be a good one (not one of the plastic pieces of junk Wal-Mart sells).

If I ever have a gun, It'll probably be a Shotgun to keep boys off my land so they can't meet my daughters...

Cannon and Mace are on my wish list.

I don't have a gun. Maybe I'll learn how to shoot a pistol and get one of them.

Airsoft guns are not all that different from a squirt gun, they use a variety of mechanical or pressure propellants to propel a small, plastic BB towards a target. It's part of a game, similar to paintball or Lazertag, although with more realistic replicas than either of those.

Airsoft is fun for having little battles with buddies. You can't legally do that with a real gun.

Haha. I am actually in California.

Oh, and is that an SVT-40 between the two 91/30s?

Good eyes. Here they are in order sans the spud gun:

1896/1945 Sestrotretsk/Sako M39

1941 Tula SVT-40 researsenaled with some Izvhesk parts and an AVT stock.

1943 Izvhesk 91/30, rearsenaled after the war with a /53 mark which I've been told designates NKVD usage.

1916 Enfield SMLE, I didn't sporterize it. Pristine bore but I still need to restore it.

1942? (or 1944, can't remember) K31 w/ arsenal tag. I have yet to fire it.

1942 Lithgow SMLE.

1943 DOU K98, a great shooter and one of my most accurate milsurps that I have actually fired.

Unknown year Type 99 Kokura Arsenal. I forget the series, but it's in the 20s.

1933 Tula 91/30, Finnish Capture.

1944 Izvhesk M44 Carbine.

Post-war (series is FG, not sure the exact date) French MAS 36. Yet to fire it.

Yugoslavian M59 'simonov pattern'. A very accurate SKS. It has tech sights (peep sights) and a rail mount on a different receiver cover. Also came with an assortment of goodies and the original parts.

1952 (sheesh, can't even remember the year) Tula SKS. I had to file down the gas tube lever myself to stop it from popping up. It works, ha.

Prize of my possesion, January 1945 M1 Garand which was rearsenaled. This was from the highest CMP grade four years ago. My most accurate milsurp I have fired. If I do my part in can shoot groups the size of nickels and quarters at 100 yards. I've got a few bad habits and my M1 lets me KNOW when I'VE screwed up.

Late 1930s Mossberg 151b, .22 LR.

NOT pictured is an M95 Steyr Carbine and an old Mossberg 44.

Nice. Very nice indeed. All I have is a cheap 1945 Tula 91/30. A good rifle (matching parts, w00t), but still cheap.

One thing that is...interesting to me about milsurp collections. Everyone seems to have Garands, K98s, SMLEs, Mosins, and even the occasional Arisaka or Carcano. Why does no one seem to have a Lebel, MAS, or any other French weapons of the period? Did the Chauchat scare everyone away from the frogs?

Probably because Garands, K98s, SMLEs, and Mosins are relatively common in the mil-surp marketplace. There are probably dozens of places that sell them relatively cheap (K98s and Mosins many times go for less than $100).

I don't know what planet you live on, but GOOD LUCK finding a K98 for less than $250. Mosins are still relatively cheap if you prefer the Russian variety, but a Finnish capture is usually around $150-200 and an Antique M39 like mine (built off an 1891 receiver) goes for around $500 on up.

Garands are common because the arsenal was directly sold back into the market place through the CMP or returned after going over to Greece or to the Danes; this would be the same case with all of the old M14s but the Clinton Administration destroyed them all.

Personally, I would love to have a Lebel and am just starting to take my collection backwards in time from before WWII. I will do this after I get enough funds (starving college student) to start reloading so I can afford to shoot 7.7 Japanese, 7.5 Swiss, 7.5 French, etc.

I would already have a Mas 49 but my stupid state seems to think the integrated grenade launcher on the muzzle makes it 'an assault weapon' (same case with the Yugo 59/66). So to make it CA legal, I would have to cut the grenade launcher part off, or weld a sleeve on it...nevermind the fact grenades have been regulated for almost a century. I don't want to have to permanently modify a nice C&R rifle just so I can have it.

Sorry, I was thinking of a different Mauser (Yugo 24/47 at Centerfire Systems). I'd seen it for $99.99, and thought (in my sleep deprived state) that it was a K98. I thought I'd seen them other places for the same amount, but I can't find them right now.

Move to Michigan. We have no silly laws like that.

Anywhoo, I'd love to get a K98 or an SKS, but not only am I a starving college student, I live on campus. That means I can't have guns unless I store them at DPPS, and I am NOT going to do that. Only a few more months, though, before I'm off.

Oh, and only 3.5 more months before I can get my CHP! :D

I had an airsoft m249 that was a lot of fun to shoot people with at airsoft games, but I sold it and used the money to buy a handgun, which is orders of magnitude more useful and and just as enjoyable.

You know, I've been hearing alot about Airsoft guns, and I'm just wondering what's the big deal is. The way I understand it is that it's just a gun that shoots plastic BBs (as oppose to metal ones like BB guns do) and some of them look cool. Is there a sport built around Airsofts?

I started out with a P90, but that didn't suit my style of play, so I got a G3 with attached M203 'nade launcher. That worked well, but then I came into a bit of money, and decided I needed the L86 LSW. Just because. So I got the STAR one, with SUSAT, and it rocks.

Speaking of airsoft, I need to get to more games, it's been too long...

Basically, it's paintball without the paint, and with more realistic looking guns.

^%$#$%#. I guess I'll have to look fondly at the folding-stock Yugo (or was it Romanian?) AK-47 I saw at a local firearms purveyor's establishment. I'm more likely to spend my hard-earned cash on a Thompson/Center Encore anyway.

I'd guess you haven't suffered any big loss. Paintball > Airsoft :D. The reason? William Shatner never played Airsoft for charity, whereas he has played paintball on 3 separate occasions for charity (I attended the second event, but never got close to him while on the field).

That is pretty cool.
