Mein Kampf + Communist Manifesto

Mkay, so I read Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto. Does this make me a bad person, or would I only be a bad person if I agreed with the views?

...I wonder how many replies will start with a Freudian 'so let's start with your mother...'

So let's start with your mother.

You like boobs.

You like your anus.

You like your mother.

You like your mother's anus.

You want to do your mom.

You want to do her in the ass.

---------------------------------

Anyway, no I read them also and I don't believe in neither.

Mein Kampf was way more interesting though because I'm Jewish and it was fascinating to get inside the man's head. The communist manifesto was just a reciple of unapplicable ecnomomics, dystopian society and "inspiration" to revolt for the lower class, uneducated or lazy.....

Nothing wrong with reading it. I haven't, but I'm generally not one to be able to stick with something for more than two pages unless it's a kick ass fantasy or sci/fi novel.

There are folks on this forum who'd say there's wrong with believing what's written in the Communist Manifesto...

And I think its fine to read Mein Kampf on a purely academic basis - after all, you need to understand what that mindset is if you're going to stop it from developing again.

Reading the books wouldn't make you a bad person. Agreeing with their views wouldn't necessarily make you a bad person (though there is some pretty twisted shit in Mein Kampf). Trying to justify the actions, or acting yourself on the messages of these books would probably put you over the edge.

Well, no. Just because you've read a Communist text doesn't necessarily turn you into a Commie or a bad person. Just because I read the Qu'ran doesn't mean I'm a Muslim, or that I will join Al'Qaida.;) So, fear not. And if you happen to share the same ideas Mein Kempf or the Communist Manifesto express, that doesn't mean that you're a bad person.:)

Reading controversial books just because you wish to increase knowledge does not make you a bad person.
Agreeing with the views... well, depends on why you agree with them.

Uh huh. I would say it was for school, but then you'd laugh at me, so I won't mention school :)

I've read the Koran (English translation) I quite liked it. Very fluid prose - even translated. :fluffle:

That in a few thousand years humanity will consist of people that are willing to be all they can be for their fellow humans, exterminatiig poverty, discrimination and so on ?

Fair enough IMO. Trying to implement it now however would be insane.

Interesting. I found it unbearably tedious, and had to assume that the loss of poetry in the translation is what made it so.
It was a lot better than the book of Mormon, to be sure (yes, I forced myself all the way through that, too), but then, just about anything is.

You would only be a bad person if you believed both simultaneously which would be incredibly confusing since Hitler was adamantly anti-communist.
If you ended up gassing yourself, that might be more "sad" than "bad".

Both are opinion. Nothing wrong with observing opinion.

Reminds me, as I'm doing all the Germany in the post WWI era stuff, I must read Mein Kampf at some stage.

Sure the guy was cracked, but it'd be interesting to see how he viewed his views.

I've read key passages of both (perhaps a third of each book, Mein Kampf because I couldn't endure the bullshit any further, CM because I was being economical with my precious time), rarely agree with either.

Ah but the book of Mormon and the Quran are essentially the same thing.

Hmm, don't worry, I would have been scared long ago - I just kinda lurk a lot. I've been around for a bit (I think perhaps 491 days :P). I like to lurk.

It's because I posted once, and was told to Lurk moar. Hrrm.

No-one fluffles enough any more, I noticed.

How does reading the Communist Manifesto make someone a bad person at all? Or even agreeing with the ideas presented?

As for the other, reading it doesn't make you a bad person either. Nor is agreeing, but you'd have to be insane to do that.

It's acting in such a way that hurts others that is ill-advised.
