So in case you haven't heard this movie No Country for old Men (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Country_for_Old_Men_%28film%29) won the Oscar for Best Picture last night...My question is: Has anyone here seen it? Is it good? Should I rent it? Should I rush out to a store right this moment and buy it?

My uncle said the book was great.

Without giving anything away it had a very unusual ending that either made you love or hate the movie.

Decent action scenes, kind of boring, ending was dumb

I thought it was good. Though that one scene at the end with the wife and the bickering over coin-flipping was almost silly in a dark way.

The most technically perfect movie I have ever seen. Certainly not the most accessible, and probably not the absolute best (though it was very close), but I'll be damned if I can find a single fault with it that wasn't inherited directly from the novel.

There Will Be Blood should have won and is a better movie.

No Country: totally better than "Blood," well deserving of Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Director, Best Movie, and definitely Best Supporting Actor. I gotta say, only that movie, and Javier Bardem, could create a psychopathic killer sporting a bowl cut and still be taken seriously. Fear the Bowl Cut!

Yeah, I really like the way the directors (author?) shoved the irony of the situation down my throat. "EVIL GETS AWAY IN THE END!!!!!!!! LOLZ!!" Great guys.

I'm not saying it's a bad movie, but for all the people that think it's the second coming of Citizen Kane, get over yourselves. This thing milked its hype for all it was worth Oscar night.

Honestly it winning the Oscar makes me want to see it less because I can't think of any other movie awards that put politics over movies as much as those do.
I still want to see it though, but I doubt it'll change my mind that the real best movie of the year was Sweeney Todd :D

That was a very good movie too, I was surprised that it didn't get more mention at the award shows.

I don't see what's so ironic about Evil getting away. Did you seriously expect the bad guy to get caught?

And who thinks the ending is bad anyway? I liked it; it seemed fitting.

Lastly, even if you think "There Will Be Blood" should have won, we can all agree that it's a damn good thing "Atonement" didn't win.

There's a difference with him just driving away, and him getting the help from kids in exchange for money after a car crash that should've killed him.

Anyway, yes, I would've shit a brick if Atonement won, I too am glad it didn't.

I agree, although they're both different types of movie. "No Country" is a chase thriller, rather than a period costume drama like "Blood."

"There Will Be Blood" should've won the award, genre aside.

One of the best movies I've ever seen, hands down, and at my tender young age of near 17, I'll note I've seen about 600 different movies.

No Country deserved to win :)

It was a good movie, and the ending is a love-it-or-hate-it ending (which I loved).
