So what is your favourite type of thread?
Due to a lot of threads being repeated I thought people should say what they specifically wish to discuss, or prefer to discuss.
I am aware that some threads can come under multiple options I have given but please choose the type it fits into most easily. I apologise if I have missed any topic areas out let me know which ones I may have missed. I have explained below in a little more detail what each option covers.
If you feel like it state a reason why you chose a certain option.
If you feel like a certain type of thread has occurred too often then say so.
Explanations for each option
1 Evolution, Big bang, Creationism intelligent design and meta-physical ideas
2 Things like abortion, moral dilemmas and euthanasia
3 Forms of government used, and ideology used for each, from Marxism, Fascism, Dictatorships etc
4 Global politics such as daily events for example in Kosovo, US elections etc and economic issues with money from decreasing value of the Dollar, or major economic events
5 General bizarre or weird things (Lunatic Goofballs threads are a good example of these) from wacky creations to humour, alternate existence and what might have happened
6 Personal problems you encounter on a daily basis from issues of drug use, overeating, gender rights
7 Covers a range of cultural influences that affect our day to day lives
8 Popularity contests from sexiest poster, to favourite signatures etc
9 Energy issues such as what power source should be used, environment problems, global warming etc
10 Changes in education, or language you wish to share or understand, legal rights, police issues and definition of certain words or ideologies
Note to self
now this thread had better work.

I like economic/society debates. I don't care for the ever pointless god debate. it will never be proven either way.
None. My desires change and shift, and some topics that I really loved debating a while ago, I shudder upon seeing appear on NSG.

That is about where I stand too. Those two subjects are probably the best at hashing out.

I sense this would happen to alot of posters, good point.

possibly, those God debates can go on for a long long time.:)
Hmm...your categories don't quite work. For example, I admit to chortling with glee at the occasional evolution/ID thread, but I avoid the interminable "my god/lack-of-god is better than your god/lack-of-god" debates like the plague, and I'd call the latter much more of a religion thread than a good old game of whack-a-troll is. ("Oh yeah? Why are there still monkeys, then?" *WHACK* "But...but...'missing links'!" *WHACK* "Scientists all hate God!" *WHACK*) :p
I know (lol whack-a-troll) my poll options don't offer much breathing space but i figured it's the best way to know what other folks are interested in, well short of telegramming everysingle poster here (hmmmmm *evil grin* tempting yet time consuming).

Random history discussions are always nice, they can be both enlightening and fun!
And no I am not a commercial for history class.

Where is the "Pie" option? :(
Sorry i was limited to 10 options, i suppose you could put that under general wacky threads?
I mean if i did add it in i would have had to squidge the rest of the topics together.
again sorry for no humour in this one.

"Pie" is a very serious topic! Much more important than whose god or gods has the biggest epeen. And that's without even bringing "Cake" into it, much less "Pancake."

My favorite topic to discuss is alternative energy and the climate, though it is a soft spot of mine. I eventually want to be involved in alternative energy research, specifically development of better biofuels.

If you like it so much you can always start your own thread on pies, if you want to?
I had to sacrifice the pie for the greater good, i know the tyranny of the majority took over i feel bad enough as it is.
So other than pies any of the options you might like?

neat, biofuels good idea from what i've heard about them. But i also hear they're expensive to implement, i could be wrong though my information on that topic is limited.

I can't choose, I like a lot of those thread types...this poll should have been multi choice
I'll bear that in mind.
Incidently there's none of those topics you prefer more than another?

They're all pretty good topics to debate, although being highly interested in people I chose Physical, Mental, Social, Sexual issues, although the religio-philosophical and political topics are great ones too. And the alternative fuels is good.
I have to say, favourite people/posters/pop contests doesn't interest me at all.

Currently Communism/Capitalism is tying with Phys/Ment/Soc/Sex issues with five votes each.

Ironically popularity contests option is the lowest so far.
In fact it could be a paradox.

I generally like any thread for the first six pages. After that, they all seem to devolve into their respective archetypes. For example, any thread that mentions ID will descend into a God/No God thread, anything that mentions money will descend into a capitalism/communism thread, and anything that mentions guns will descend into a gun rights/gun control thread.
I have a hypothesis that, if allowed to continue for long enough, all threads devolve into the same thread, the Meta-Thread from which all other threads branch out. It is the Platonic form of thread, and if found it will be the greatest scientific discovery since the Big Bang theory.
