Duke Nukem Forever
Seems that 3D Realms released a teaser video for Duke Nukem Forever back in December. It was originally done as an internal gag for the company Christmas party but if that is the present state of the game itself (and after 10 years of work it had better look at least that good graphics-wise) then I may actually live to see the game released.
The traffic at the part of the site that has the video is running a little slowly because of the continued flood from the fans (how many can there still be after all this time?) but it can be found on everything from Game Trailers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0) to Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHg5SJYRHA0).
I must say that after seeing the version of the game in 98 I wondered why it was never released. The graphics looked good considering the limitations back then and you could see in at least a couple of the clips a companion that seemed to function in a similar capacity to Alyx in HL2: Ep2. So some of the levels weren't quite finished but I doubt that would have kept it from flying of the shelves.
It doesn't show much but what's there is polished to a shine. So, what do you think of the new Duke Nukem trailer and will you buy the game if it ever does get released?

Wow, if that's really what it looks like...
Holy shit.
Actually, I know it's a Rick Roll. You gave yourself away by making both of those the same link. Also, anybody reading this has lost The Game.

Duke Nukem Forever: Coming this Apocalypse :D

I didn't even click the link until I read your post.
Pretty awesome looking. Shiny textures.
What can I say, I like the song.
Wow. That looks amazing! ABout time it has come out! I wonder if the online play will be great too.
You jerk. You had my hopes up!

"I am gonna look you up, gonna hunt you down
I am gonna run you down, and hurt you
I am gonna make you cry, you are gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie, I'll hurt you"
Seriously, whenever this song comes on the radio at my supermarket, it gets so muffled from all the noise that this is what the lyrics sound like.

It was never released way back when because it wasn't finished and/or wasn't good enough. It may have looked awesome in the trailer, but a teaser trailer really says nothing about the state of most components of a game.
We've reached a time where it's pretty much now or never for this game, as canceling and restarting it now would mean another 2-3 years and a few tens of millions in development costs, and I just don't see that happening. That's why the announcement that Duke Nukem was finally going to come wasn't particularly surprising. My guess is a late 2008 release, and that the game will be rather conservative, much like Prey was.

I know that the latest teaser says little of the actual game but it's nice to see that they've got something ready to go public with since the last trailer. I saw the earlier trailers and clips of actual gameplay of the earlier versions and it looked promising, if they've kept that and spent all this time tinkering with graphics then it'll definately shine in the "pretty to look at" department but I have to wonder why they changed to the Unreal from the Quake 2 and switched from the Karma physics engine to one from Meqon. Stop tinkering with it and get it out. Patches will fix any bugs!

If Too Human comes out before it it's just going to add to the amusement.

In my opinion, that's an improvement.

Duke Nukem Forever is one of the most appropriately-named games ever developed. And developed. And developed...

It's even more appropriate when they put out ads asking for people who want to work on Duke Nukem Forever.

Prey was received alright, but then again it dropped off the map and wasn't being promised for most of those eleven years.
Too Human is apparently turning out well too.
My friend is convinced that the world will end when Duke Nukem Forever is released, and that the recently released trailer is a harbinger of our doom.
My friend is rarely wrong.
I pray for all our sakes that this game is never released.

That was what they used to say about Daikatana,... though,... I think John Romero's world collapsed a little when he failed to make me his bitch.
