Hillary Clinton slammed rival Barack Obama on Saturday for campaign leaflets on her health-care plan that she called "blatantly false" and accused him of using Republican tactics in their contest for the Democratic U.S. presidential nomination.

In a bitter exchange, the Obama campaign defended the leaflet as accurate and decried Clinton's "negative campaign."

Don't you just love it when the parties eat their own. Here they go slamming each other and in a few months it will be kiss and make up. None of them (McCain, Clinton, or Obama) have come out with specifics on what they would do if they are elected President. Only generalities and they eat their own.

TIME FOR A THIRD PARTY! Time for politicians who will actually listen to the people and do something other than blow hot air and promote the ME.

I did consider starting a party like that.

Called the "British Defenders and Workers Party".

But Democracy's expensive

I hear a lot of people say this, but what do you expect the candidate to say? The President doesn't have any real legislative powers to speak of, s/he can only sign/veto bills or encourage the introduction of specific legislation. This means that the only legislative discussion that they can have is about the general ideas that they support. They could start talking about the exclusive powers that they have, but people probably don't care about which nations will be recognized or what treaties they would really like to enter. We already have a good idea of the kinds of judges that they would appoint (on the issues that most people care about.)

So, am I missing something about what the national debate should be including?

This is untrue as to each of the three candidates you mention.

A failure of knowledge on your part is not a failure to offer specifics on the part of the candidates.

Which one of these is SPECIFIC? NONE. They are all generalities, things people want to hear, things that have no meat or sustenance.

Compared to what? The ramblings of Wayne Allyn Root? LOL.

Too bad one of the candidates doesn't put something forth like a lengthy Blueprint for Change (http://www.barackobama.com/pdf/ObamaBlueprintForChange.pdf) (pdf) -- some kind of plan for America.

Oh, snap. ;)

Senator Obama made me unwittingly download a large PDF. "For the people," indeed.

Too late, the damage is done. Although I don't agree with anything he says, I'm afraid I will have to vote for the more server-friendly candidate, John McCain. ;)

Third Party? didn't the Simpson's teach you anything...

From "Citizen Kang"

From the sky comes a scream, as Homer is crashing right into the
Capitol. A few footsteps later, he comes running down the stairs.

Homer: America, take a good look at your beloved candidates. They're
nothing but hideous space reptiles. [unmasks them]
[audience gasps in terror]
Kodos: It's true, we are aliens. But what are you going to do about
it? It's a two-party system; you have to vote for one of us.
[murmurs]
Man1: He's right, this is a two-party system.
Man2: Well, I believe I'll vote for a third-party candidate.
Kang: Go ahead, throw your vote away.
[Kang and Kodos laugh out loud]

hey, but he pledges to sign more vetoes than any president in history. that's like a specific plan. though one has to wonder what he would do if bizarro-congress kept passing bills enacting his agenda...
