## Bush administration is bracing for -yet another- diplomatic backlash

Friday February 22-- The Bush administration is bracing for a diplomatic backlash after conceding it used British territory to transport suspected terrorists on secret rendition flights despite repeated earlier assurances it had not.
US officials have sought to quell the fallout by apologizing to Britain for what they said was an "administrative error". The admission, however, may reopen a bitter debate between the United States and its allies over how the fight against terrorism should be conducted and compromise future cooperation.
... many expect will be widespread anger that the US, when asked in 2004, incorrectly assured its closest ally that neither British soil nor airspace had been used in moving suspected terrorists, officials said.
"Mistakes were made in the reporting of the information," said Gordon Johndroe, National Security Council spokesman for President George W Bush. Johndroe insisted that cooperation between the US and Britain would not be affected.

Whoever is responsible? Who do you think it was? Perhaps someone in the White House? Hmmmmmmmmmm.
Yes, as a matter of fact, it probably was an aide to a Joint Chief.

I will bet that Britain make no great waves over this. Why? I would also bet that Britain knew of and allowed it to happen.
Plausible deniability ain't just a river in...amm...well it just isn't a river okay!

You mean the scandal where Sweden slept with the USA dog and woke up with fleas? The one exposed by Swedish media which once again exposed how stupid it is to work with the USA in these matters? The one that lead to the sacking of a minister and the ultimate loss of an election for that government? Whattayaknow, accountability before the populace; I know you've forgotten all about it and thus don't know to recognise it, but it does indeed show an amount of "caring" that is beyond your comprehension.
I am distraught. Distraught and disappointed.
You are also oh, four-five years late to the scandal.

We call that the rule of law and nulla poena sine lege. Again, something beyond your comprehension.
Shall we move onto eugenics?
Which one? The ones before the 19th century? The theoretical one abandoned over a century ago, or the one from the 50s and 60s against the mentally challenged the government has been sued and is still paying damages for? You'll have to be a bit more specific, you see ours is an old country going back a millennium and plus more. If you're gonna dig in the past, recall that we don't all have only two centuries to consider.

Amazingly, not all Americans have an unquenchable desire to get rich by any means necessary.
Shocking...I know.

Well, let's hope our government grows a spine in time for 2016.
Yes, because that has always led the US to greatness! Just look at the last 50 years or so!

Aw, it's cute when people are naive.
Money says no one "accidentally" went in to British space, and I bet when Bush found out he didn't disapprove, either.
It's all in the name of savin' the world from those damn terrorists.

I'm British, and those planes landed on our island. If the government had any backbone, they'd promise that when the chance comes up to back out of the lease the US has to have an airbase on it in 2016, they'll tell whatever presidency is around to GTFO.
Mind you, Labour won't be around that long I shouldn't think, but we'll see how the Cons get on.
