The Audacity of Hope

For the record, I'd prefer this not be another Hillary vs. Obama thread. there are enough of those. Instead, I'd like it to center around discussion of Barack Obama's most recent book, "The Audacity of Hope.", in which he outlines his political philosophy, his personal trials and tribulations, and his ideas for renewing the spirit of America.

I'm about two thirds of the way through it myself, and found it to be incredibly sincere. Barack often relates things that might be embarrassing or politically damaging. He talks about how politics has devolved into flag-waving, rather than discussion. He goes into rather incredible detail on ideas he has for problems with education, immigration, medical and technological research, the economy, health insurance, and so on. Parts of the book, like his description of his own personal faith, or seeing his mother die of cancer, or growing up in a household his father had left when he was two, are incredibly personal. I find it illuminating, and would recommend that anyone considering supporting Obama buy the book and read it themselves. I would reccomend this doubly for those who allege that he somehow lacks substance.

I think people like to complain. Also, people live in a recurring cycle and they're not bothered by any politics that doesn't directly affect them. The way i see it, we could either complain and moan about how our individual rights are taken for granted by a red sheep in blue clothing or we can all refuse to go to work until our requests are granted. Since Gordon Rocks relationship with the economy resembles an unrequited lover, i'd say he'd be quite upset.

All this hate is amazing :faint:

I think it's kind of funny that by stating I didn't want this thread to be about Obama vs Hillary, it has now become about the British PM.

I guess that's what I get for posting at 2 am.
