I thought this was a brilliant animation that perfectly and simply sums up the shennanigans that the Bush administration have been trying to pull off. http://gizmodo.com/356837/snuggly-the-security-bear-explains-warrantless-wiretapping-is-all-about-love-and-freedom?autoplay=true

The comments are lolworthy, some of them at least.

I particularly enjoy the "If you have nothing to hide..." argument.

It just fails to see that once they can wiretap people at will, there is nothing stopping them from (illegally) creating a retroactive law that would allow them to arrest a bunch of people who had nothing to hide.

Also the "I'm sure other governments have done worse..." argument.

So sure, since Saudi Arabia beheads people in public, it would be entirely appropriate to do it in the US or Europe as well? Or what about women's rights? I mean, we don't need such a laughable thing, since we'll still be treating our women better than some places.
