Terry Gilliam. Worst luck of any director and producer in Hollywood.
A close second to Eric Idle, who continues to amuse with his funny songs.
And I hereby commandeer this thread in the name of the Great British Empahr!

Not just based on what they did as Pythons, but what they did before and after.
Although I'm tempted to vote for Cleese, I'm going to have to go with Michael Palin.

I still enjoy the work of John Cleese, who is funny pretty much just standing there, but Gilliam's work is something I go out of the way for. I won't watch something just because Cleese is in it, he has a low standard threshold. Fish Called Wanda was hilarious, Rat Race had a few funny bits with him in it. With Gilliam, I'll even watch his mistakes. (Lost in La Mancha)

The sketches with Eric Idle always crack me up the most, so I’ll plump for him. It’s a wee bit unfair, methinks, to say Gilliam was the best on the merit of his later work, no matter how great that work is (Brazil, we salute you!)

Fantastic movie (about a movie)!

John Cleese, for his letter revoking the independence of America. Funniest thing I've read in months.

When I saw the Pythons, I enjoyed Michael Palin the most. In the beginning, I did not know who of them was who, so I refered to Palin as "the nervous guy".
John Cleese the runner-up, quite close.
Terry Jones and Graham Chapman kept somehow strange to me.

I like the Reticulated Python. It has a beautiful pattern on its back.
Oh, you mean Monty Python Cast Member. John Cleese! He made an awesome taunter of those "Empty- Headed" Camelot lemmings.
Edit: Looks like I was beaten to the punch... <.>

Damn. You ruined my day. :p
I voted for Eric Idle, though I'm torn between any of them really, though Idle, Cleese and Palin are my favorites...

Terry Gilliam.
Time Bandits, Brazil, Baron Munchausen, The Fisher King, 12 Monkeys, and even the film about his failed attempt to film The Man Who Killed Don Quixote (called Lost in La Mancha), all require a certain level of thought and imagination from viewers. I like that in a director. He was also Cardinal Fang, ftw.

John Cleese and Eric Idle were the funniest actors, I thought.
Wasn't Terry Gilliam pretty inconsequential beyond drawing those semi-funny cartoons? Does he act? I can't really remember.
Read the OP. "Favorite" based not just on Flying Circus work, but also on what they did prior and after. Terry Gilliam is a film director. And semi-funny only applies if you don't know whose faces/bodies he cut out to use. I only knew a few of them, but there was more satire going on in those 'toons than just silliness...which is good for it's own sake as well.
And dammit, he was Car-di-nal FANG! Not to mention "a man with a stoat through his head".
EDIT: I fart in your general direction, you so-called Jolt Servers, you and all your silly timewarps!

I love 'em all, but I think John Cleese has to win for "Fawlty Towers." (And because, as pointed out earlier in the thread, he can just stand around not doing anything in particular and still be funny.)

Terry Gilliam. Worst luck of any director and producer in Hollywood.!He made a bunch of movies and he's a hero among nerds. There are plenty of great directors nobody knows about.
All of them :D
Voted for John Cleese.
