Is Dale Gribble really as clueless?

For those of you who watch "King of the Hill" you all know the character Dale Gribble. Now at the beginning of the series, Dale's wife was cheating on him with John Redcorn, and even though their affair has ended, it resurfaces once in awhile. During those time that it resurfaces, we see Dale Gribble getting close to the secret that his wife and John has hidden from him all this time. That they had an affair and that Joseph Gribble is the love child of that affair.

Now we all know that Dale Gribble is as paranoid as "9/11 Truthers" and believes strongly in Aliens and Government coverups and conspiracies. However, sometimes I wonder if Dale really is as clueless about the Affair and Joseph as he appears to be. When Nancy and John broke up, Dale actually tries to get them back together under the guise that John use to cure Nancy's "Headache."

Tonight was a new episode where we find out that John fathered another child with another woman named Kate. Now in this episode, he recruits John to break up a relationship between Bill and a woman he's dating, a woman who is the mother of Kate. During their converstation where they make this place Dale says "You do know I mean Charlene, right?" Which to me hints to the fact that Dale may have known about the affair the whole time and decide for whatever turn a blind eye to it.

The whole series is filled with Dale Gribble making vague refrence to Nancy and John former affair and that Joseph wasn't his child. What do you guys think, is Dale Gribble really clueless about John, Nancy and Joseph?

He has plenty ... PLENTY ... of clues in life ... it's just that he pieces them together incorrectly, kinda like religion.

It was a funny one. I laughed at Dale Gribble's antics. :)

I watch that show on and off, and right now I am in one of my off periods, so I cannot say whether or not he knows.

Maybe he knows it subconsciously but is in denial.

Geez, do you have to make a topic on *every* errant thought that goes through your head while watching t.v.? :p

I think the answer is: it wouldn't be funny if he knew.

The line between cluelessness and denial can be a blur.

I took it to mean Dale was referring to himself ("You do know I mean Charlene, right?" and not Dale/himself). I do agree though the whole John Redcorn situation has to come to a conclusion at some point

That whole thing with Dale's wife was the season I stopped watching the show like 10 years ago. I always think it's bs how women are allowed to cheat on TV shows and remain a "good" character.

I doubt they're portraying her as a good or bad character. I think they're just portraying her as a wife who cheated on his husband and had a love child.
