I met President Bill Clinton today.

Only briefly, mind you. It was a pretty good day for me. He came here to speak on behalf of Hillary Clinton. I got to pick up his lunch and sat right up near the podium.

I got to shake his hand, exchange a few brief pleasantries and got his autograph.

Like him or not, it matters not, getting to shake hands with and meet, in person, a President of the United States isn't something everyone can say happened. I'm gonna frame his autograph.

But at least he's for polygamy eh? Nothing wrong with the guy changing motors a few times.
I mean have we reached a day and age when rich old men can't have affairs in private?

Oh and what was the conference for? Just a Hillary awareness campaign or something?

Good for you that is great! It does feel cool, I got to shake Jimmy Carter's hand and I thought it was pretty cool too. You are right it isn't something everyone can say has happened to them. Grats!

Bill's been stumping for Hillary all around Texas since our Primary has become of extreme importance (for the first time in 20 years, I might mention). She's been focusing here a lot and her husband is her strongest campaigner.

Grats on meeting with Former President Bill Clinton. :)

I've met Chuck Yeager, Mills Lane (the referee who refereed the famous Mike Tyson Vs. Holy Evanderfield fight in 1997) and Charlie Daniels. :)

I got cussed out by Chuck Yeager, how many people can claim they got cussed out by Mr. Super Sonic?!

Incidently, does anyone know of any other political positions that you get to keep the title of once you leave office?

The only thing I could think of was something like the Moderator of the Church of Scotland (i.e. the administrative head of the Kirk) who gets to keep the 'Very Reverend' at the start of his/her name; but that's not really a political role.

That's cool. I met Chelsea once at a private club in Aspen. She was nice but not an attractive woman. As for political people I met Arnold Schwarzenegger years ago at a friends house. Her dad builds his gym equipment. The guy was super nice to all of us.

Despite his affair, I still hold a great deal of respect for Bill Clinton. I felt confident while he was President, and I have not felt confident since. If I had to attach a numerical percentage value to him, I'd say he rests at about 85% with me.

It's my hope that his wife will win out in the primaries yet, and that she'll go on to become President of the United States. Regardless of what the Obama camp seems to suggest, Clinton is NOT the same as the people she is vying to replace. To suggest otherwise is unfair and untrue, and smacks of the very politics that Obama is supposedly decrying.

There's a car dealership around here that flies one that's probably close to that size. However, that one's meant to be seen from miles around, rather than just looking massive in a smallish auditorium.

Meh, isn't he enough of a whore these days that you only need a thousand euro or so to meet him at one of his "lectures"?

Anyway, the most famous person I've met is probably Her Royal Highness Princess Madeleine. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Princess_Madeleine,_Duchess_of_H%C3%A4lsingland_and_G%C3%A4strikland) She was polite and smiled disturbingly much, not at all what she's like when you see her from a distance in unguarded moments in various Stockholm venues.

Fine. Just as long as you also don't believe the myth that she will be a messaniac Bill Clinton II. Despite thier identical surnames, thier personal politics are not the same.

To the OP, that's pretty cool. I'd love to meet Bill sometime.

My brother met, and talked at length with, former deputy First Minister of Scotland, Nicol Stephen while waiting for a train. Does that count for anything?

Ok, this was at the 2006 AirVenture in Oshkosh WI. It's something that happens every year at the end of July. Well, I brought a picture of him and his P-51 Mustang and I wanted to get it signed by him. So when I went to meet him I held up the picture and he said "Put that damn thing down you want a picture of us, not of the picture!"

We all laughed, me included.

In the US, any politician (Mayor, Senator, Representative, etc.) gets to keep their title. Even though we are not an aristocratic, county the aristocrats must have their titles. Oh, and retired military get to keep their title as we are not technically retired but are subject to recall and on retainer pay. J ***like the AF is going to recall an almost 65-year-old Senior Master Sergeant…:D

Of course I'm sitting here talking on the phone with my teacher lady (Who lives there) and she like "Oh yeah..." (Then back into Spanish), I'm somehow guess she's not a fan of him.

That's cool! Everyone who meets someone important/famous like that knows that it doesn't matter if you agree with him politically or not, it's just an awesome once-in-a-lifetime (for most people) experience.

So on that note, CONGRATS!

I know the feeling, actually. I met and discussed American and European politics with Ralph Nader and multiple Floridian politics. Obviously anyone who knows me and him (Nader), know we arn't politically similar, but it was an interesting experience nonetheless.

Hooray for political activism, regardless of political stances!

The most famous person I've actually met would probably be Michael Medved.

However, I have been in the same room as both Bill Clinton and Pope John Paul II, been within three meters of Queen Elizabeth II, and asked a question of both Stephen Hawking and Brian Greene.

In fact, there's a bit of a story about the last two...

I went to a lecture by Stephen Hawking in Cambridge. At the end of the lecture, he took a few questions. Mine was one of them. I asked him, "What do you think the big questions in physics will be 10, 20 years from now?"

He answered: "None. I intend to answer them all."

Six years later, I got my revenge. I was at a big public lecture in Seattle by Brian Greene. Again, I got to ask him a question. I began by saying that I had asked this question of Stephen Hawking several years ago, and if Brian Greene would answer it, I would give him Hawking's answer. I asked him the question, and he said that we might be working on what are the "atoms and molecules" of space-time.

I then gave him Hawking's answer. There were probably a few hundred people in that auditorium, and everyone heard me.
