Bizarre computer problem

Ok here is the low down:
My main computer wasn't displaying anything, so I fiddled around with the connection and tried to put the monitor lead into the old output instead of the output from the graphics card, but it didn't work. I assumed it was a problem with the monitor so I plugged my brothers monitor into the graphics card output, yet that didn't work either, so I was forced to plug my brothers monitor into the old video output which does work but is a bit crap. To double check that my monitor wasn't working, I tried it with my brothers mac and that didn't work either. So again I just assumed that the graphics card short circuited and overloaded the monitor with it, causing a broken graphics card and monitor. However, when the monitor was taken over to PC world, the guy at the store tested it on one of the computers there and the monitor worked perfectly displaying everything from the computer. Very strange. So, before I get my computer sent away for repairs, I thought I would just check on here to see what the problem could be. Any ideas??? Thanks in advance.

The computer is clearly infected with evil spirits. You should take it to your local pastor for immediate cleansing.

You have a faulty power outlet in your home to which you connected both monitors ?

I find waiving a dead chicken works just as well.
tho the spirits seem to flee faster if KFC's Original Recipie is used vs their Crispy pieces...
Your computer has teh Aids! That is what you get for sticking the power cords in faulty slots.

(If you have a Windows PC) If you can access your BIOS, reset your display to the onboard graphics processor. Once you aren't running through the graphics card, you should be able to remove the card for testing on another PC.
(If you have a Mac) They're great ain't they? 'Til they quit on ya, that is. You're probably stuck getting a new machine.

Well I'm already running on the on board graphics processor (hence the old output), but what about the weirdness involving my monitor not working on the on board graphics card nor my brothers mac?

Is the PSU in your computer fine?
That's the only other thing I can think of that hasn't been mentioned.

Speak to it in a low level tone of voice and say, "If you don't work right now, when i flick this switch, i'll re-programme you with a sledgehammer".
Works for me. I try to be nice to my PC though, i think it can think all by itself. Like a little entity of intelligence no matter how small.
PS. I am against abortions for computers, but for the death penalty should the computer refuse to work for you.:D

i read your OP twice, but i'm a bit slow today. sounds like your graphics card is fucked in some way. got any spares you could put in there to check? i bought a real cheapy one from Maplin (cost maybe a tenner) when the same thing happened to me a while back. was worth the tenner just to be sure it was the graphics card that was the problem, and not something else.
and you don't really have to send your PC away for repair. putting a new card in is dead easy. step 1: buy a new card (be sure to get the right kind eg PCIExpress, AGP, etc), step 2: open computer, step 3: unscrew old card, step 4: install new card, step 5: turn on computer and install drivers
