Me? I gave up the thought of having a boyfriend. I'm not entirely sure what's happening, but I suspect it will end with me in another relationship.

I'm not even sure what Lent is about, to be honest.

It's a season in the Christian church. The point is following Christ on His journey to the cross. The traditional disciplines of Lent are prayer, fasting, and charitable works. In addition, many people choose to give up something that is destructive to them, or they will choose to add something else to their faith life (like extra time reading the Bible or praying).
That help answer your question?

I don't participate because I'm not Catholic. Aside from that, I like the symbolism behind it, if not the cultural 'mandate' to follow it. It seems a lot of people participate in Lent because that's what people do during this time of year, which I find ridiculous. If you're not going to do it with sincerity (religious, or otherwise) why do it at all?

never borrowed never lent.

have kept the 19 day fast from the 2nd to the 21st of march a number of years in the past though.

back when i was an active baha'i

mostly from the early 70s well into the mid to late 80s.

obviously that doesn't mean completely not eating for 19 days every year, just eating, drinking nor smoking nothing from sun up to sun set and not gorging yourself at night either.

it's actually good for the health once a year to do something like that, unless you've got a health or some other condition that prevents it, like my wife's medication.

before i married her i kept it most years, even when i wasn't active in the faith.

i mean if you're gonna talk about catholic lent, it only makes sense to include the baha'i fast and islamic ramadan as well, as all are the same basic concept of outer dicipline as means to inner purification to open the channels as it were, to higher planes or whatever you want to call it for the fallowing year.

i don't know if hindus or buddhists have anything like that, but i'm guessing they probable do, though not perhapse as a predesignated time of year or anything. i know they both have kind of like mendicant priest which is kind of an all year sort of thing, and i seem to recall there were some protestant christian sects that did or do so as well, though i don't recall right off hand which ones they might be.

Well, according to the CIA factbook, the Roman Catholics are only outnumbered by atheists :

Roman Catholic 31%, Dutch Reformed 13%, Calvinist 7%, Muslim 5.5%, other 2.5%, none 41%

And calling it "Christian Ramadan" isn't going to endear them to many, I should think... But then again, the Catholic church isn't exactly known to be informed about public opinions.

I am so sorry... I hope you can recover at least some of the worth of your belongings and find a new place.
The manager went in (at some risk: from what I understand, my apartment was right below the one where the fire started, the whole ceiling caved in, and that section of the 3rd floor is off-limits) and retrieved most of the things that were actually of monetary value, even some stacks of photos and so on. Unpacking the bag of stuff he gave me was like Christmas: I didn't get everything I wanted, of course, but lots of "oh wow! oh wow!" after I was reconciled to everything being gone.
