As a lifelong city fan im over the moon...fist time we have done the double over united since 1969...first time we have won at old trafford since 1974 and on the 50th anniversary of the Munich disaster...couldnt get any better than this...

Should have been a penalty in the first half half and your second goal was offside.

Oh yes.....2:1 in your cup final, 2:1 in your cup final. ;)

The last time you did the double was 1970.

That you would mention that the victory is sweeter because it falls on the anniversiry of the Munich crash makes me wonder what kind of football fan you are.

I'm happy because United lost and not just because of the fan base :)

Bit of a low blow with the Munich statement. Remember City lost someone as well in that crash.

69/70 season if you're going to be picky.

Nothing to do with the crash...because my friend every time you remember the 50 year anniversary you will remember that we beat you on the aforementioned date ;)

and who's bitter now?

Truth is...we beat you that often these days you're not even considered a derby anymore...its more your Blackburns and Wigans now...they give us a better game ;)

Nice Munich comment, I assume mumsy and daddy failed to teach you decency as a child?

In any case, come and gloat when you actually win something. Other than promotion that is.:D

Does either team actually include any native-born Mancunians (or even Lancastrians) nowadays? Or was this just a case of "Our foreign mercenaries beat your foreign mercenaries!"?

A penalty? That would be (http://shinymedia.blogs.com/whoateallthepies/images/ronaldo7rs.jpg) for the 'foul' (http://images.worldcupblog.org/net/ronaldo-diving.jpg) on Ronaldo? (http://soccerword.com/media/Ronaldo%20dive.jpg)

Am I right? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82ochcQ56Es&NR=1)

Admit it, United played poorly and deserved, if we're being generous, a draw at best.

Yeah; Scholes, Neville, Brown and Giggs are all Mancunian.

Really, I'd try and actually know something about football other than the stereotypes bandied about if I were you.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I think you should know something about football too...Ryan Giggs is Welsh...born in Cardiff...typical United fan...more into hiss prawn sandwiches than the history of their club and the origins of their most decorated and famous players hahahahaha

At least I can afford prawn sandwiches, fuck off back to Moss Side.:D

In truth, I simply intentionally misinterpreted the question. Few clubs recruit native players only from their local area; god knows City don't, Micah Richards is from Leeds. Indeed, no club has ever recruited solely from their local area; of the Busby Babes, Edwards was from the Black Country, Charlton from Northumbria, and Gregg from Northern Ireland.

Hence, I simply decided to reinterpret the question as how many players have actually come through the clubs academy; thus, Giggs, however unfortunately Welsh he may be, is undeniably native.

Actually, Giggs was raised in Pendlebury (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pendlebury#Ryan_Giggs), so your original point isn't exactly in error.

He doesn't have to be born in the Greater Manchester Area to be "from" the area- if he's lived there from an early age (and Giggs has), he experienced just Manchester and thus learned and picked up its customs and mannerisms- heck, he even talks with a Mancunian accent. He has no experiences in Wales except for the fact he was born there and plays with the team.

Tell me, are you going to tell me that Owen Hargreaves isn't Canadian despite the fact he was born in Calgary (http://www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calgary, Alberta) and didn't leave until he was 13 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Owen_Hargreaves#Background)?

Besides, I don't think where Giggs is from ought to matter. He's a great player and helpful to the Manchester United cause (and has been since 1990)- and that's the most important part. His "Welshness" or "non-Welshness" doesn't change any of that.

Thank you for the information.
One finds facts like that out by asking, so I asked.
