So, I found out today that I'm going to have to live for several months on a 'low residue diet'. No solid food at all.

While I've known a few people who had to do this because of jaw surgery, I'm at a disadvantage. My teeth won't be wired shut.

Has anyone else had to go through something like this? Any helpful tips ;)

I'll miss chocolate. :(

why do you have to be tortured like this?

I used to hurt puppies. It's god punishing me ;)

Invest in a blender.

I have to drink the special 'Shakes' that are supplied to me.

The bright side is that I'll save a fortune in food bills.

Does a big cup of melted chocolate count?

I could always go for this

Be sure you get enough protein and fat. You need 1 g of protein per kg of body weight and I forget the formula for fat. I'm at 157 lbs and need 20g of fat. I'm sure you're under a doctor's care if you have be on such a diet, he or she should be able to tell you exact quantities.

Banna, milk, chocolate powder, syrup, touch of lemon juice, ice cream, yoghurt, then blend. My old favourite.

But speaking seriously can't you ask a Doctor or a health expert for advice? Phone them or something if you're stuck.

If not then what about liquified pizza? no that sounds horrible eurgh don't even try that.
I guess don't focus on food but more on fun activities, then psychologically you'l feel better about the change to make up for less choice in food.

special shakes? any other "rules" to this diet other than no solids?

I had to do this for several weeks. I subsisted on sports drinks and other liquids for a while then moved on to soft solids (applesause and the like.)

it's a great opportunity to re-train your diet and eating habits.

I was on a non-solid diet before and I can tell you one thing for free:

Baby food tastes horrible.

It looks really tempting, with names such as Seared Foie Gras and Fava Beans, or whatever - I exaggerate a tad. Do not be tempted, they all taste like bland sludge sent straight up from the kitchens of hell.

I really gained a taste for natural yoghurt, I could eat tubs and tubs of it.

Soup is a no brainer, love soup.

Essentially though, your diet is pretty limited.
