I am looking for a little bit of helpful advice from the good people of NSG. I have decided that I would like to have a little web page that is all my own, however I am a bit stuck on where to start, on such things a picking a site name and finding a place to host my little creation. I'm not to worried about creating the page, I just don't know how to go about getting it on to the interwebs. Any help would be greatly appreciated :):)

well you might want to check out what your current ISP has to offer, you more than likely have some free webspace to work with from them. as for a site/domain name you'll have to search that out http://domains.net/ .

My ISP at the moment is the university that I'm going to, so I'm not sure they will help, from what I have found I find it rather doubtful that they have anything. But thanks for the idea:)

Most universities offer students their own (smallish) amount of webspace. You should ask your IT peeps. (Usually has a nasty URL though)

pages.google.com
srsly.
Both of my children have their own webspace there, it's idiot proof (although they aren't idiots....I mean, it's really easy, the 4 year old made hers when she was 3)

Are you going to want a lot of traffic on this site? If so, you should probably register it with a few search engines.

Its just a personal site, so lots of traffic was not really what I had in mind.

Fair enough. Have fun building it. That's really the interesting part. :)
