Do you ever get the feeling...
...that you're meant to do something big? Recently I've just get having these thoughts that I'm meant to change the world in some big way. I don't know how or why but that feeling is growing.
Also do you think the people who did change the world had these kinds of thoughts or did what they did which just so happened to change the world?

Yes, you are in fact, The One.
Seriously though, I am young and I also have a willingness to implement some sort of momentous change in the world. I don't really know what yet. It is quite daunting the sheer number of problems that plague our world.

Only when i'm really bored, or pissed off.
So i try to aviod that, i think it's the ego part saying be the chief caveman. Better to get on with stuff you can change, but if you swing towards doing big things expect big results good or bad.
I suppose i might get that if i gambled all my money, but i'd also be terrified.

I knew I was The One!
Seriously that's the same situation as me. I'm only 19 and I just get hit by this feeling that something needs to be done and I should be one of those who does it.

Everyone considers themselves the most important and fascinating thing in the world. That doesn't make it true.

Epic answer :D
As to the actual OP: Most people who have changed the world did it out of a feeling of necessity for action, they didn't consider themselves special, just someone who could do something about it.

If you drink enough beer, the feeling will subside. :)

I'll be doing that tonight! Hooray for Wednesday Club night
I find pot to much better, actually, LG.
Kid, if you wanna change the world, be an example. It's sounds like a little thing, but think of how few truly good role models there are in the world. Be kind to your clerks, your servers, your tellers. Hold a door.
I fly a lot and I watch a lot of people feel like they're above being responsible because there in places where they have complete anonymity. I saw an older man refuse to move when a pregnant woman was trying to get down the aisle to the bathroom on our plane. You think he'd do that if he was standing in front of his friends and neighbors? I suspect not.
I promise there is always someone noticing your actions, being affected by them. You're the stone in the pond. What kind of waves you wanna make?

Do some little things as a warm up and see how they go.
The world has plenty of 19 year olds who who are convinced they can bring peace to the middle east but can't get their two best friends to stop fighting.
Or can't manage to tidy up a room, but want to manage the Earth's ecosystem.
Organize a volunteer clean up effort at a local park. If you manage that, you can work up to rain forests.

Of course it isn't.
Everyone should know by now that WYTYG is the most important and fascinating thing in the world.

Never thought that, no. I have fantasies -- everyone does -- of "making it big", "profoundly affecting history", "having streets named after me and plaques placed on buildings where I live" -- but when it comes down to reality, I doubt I'll alter the world any more than the effect I'll have on it by simply living there.

No, no I don't. I feel that my job is to live my life, be happy, eat good food, drink good beer, have good sex with the right person/people and smoke some cigars.
And probably a child or two, somewhere in there.

sounds like you need a womans touch (as in you need a cuddle and all those things guys really can't do)
though that doesn't mean I can't try in a non-sexual way of course :fluffle:
