You ever tease your pets? how?

I will put "people" food at the bottom of there food bowls (I have dogs btw) so they will smell it, but they can't get to it right off the bat.

I also do the phantom fetch (act like I am throwing the ball/stick and hide it behind my back)...that one can back fire as if they see me do it, they will jump on me.

Yes, with string to my cats all the time. I also pick them up and spin them around as fast as possible. There's a reason they hate me...

That's just wrong and u should really stop doing this! Something like that can cause severe brain damage.

Cats and dogs with a laser pointer. It really confuses them when they 'catch" the dot. :D

I'll look into that, I've never heard that before. But I do it very infrequently. And they don't really use their brains that much anyway. But still, I don't want to hurt them.

I used to do it too untill somebody told me that. I just found it funny how they wobbled afterwards. They (the cats) never seemed to like it though..

Just asking, "Whose tail is this?" gets the reaction.

Really well trained cat...;:)

Flashlight works well too.

Dangling string in front of the cat, check.
Touching the tip of her tail asking in a silly voice, "Whose tail is this?" has an added effect now.... I don't even need to touch her tail to get her to lash it. Just asking, "Whose tail is this?" gets the reaction.

Or really well-trained human.

"Let's get her to make that silly babble.... twitch the tail again!"

I vote trained human. Cats do after all own us and not the other way around.

I hold a dog treat right out of reach of my pugs, and watch them desperately reach their tongues out, trying to wrap it around the treat.

When my bunny is running around I'll suddenly run a few steps towards her. She freaks and runs (usually doing happy feet) in the other direction. Then she ran head first into a wall. Now I'm more careful.

I bang on random doors/walls/anything to make my dog think theres someone at the front door.

My boyfriends dog has two favourite toys - a ball and a bone. I throw one and run away with the other, he doesn't know which way to go :D

I like to play "The Claw" with my cat. It's where I act like I'm going to grab her head and she bats at my hand. Sometimes she bites my hand, but it's play bite.

I also love using the laser pointer on her body, she'll actually attack herself to get to that red dot.

Like when she jumps on my chest when I am sleeping and pats my face to wake me up?

Very cruel. ;)

Usually she'll come find me, jump up, purr and snuggle after we play "tail".

OK, I’m not saying that anyone here is committing gross acts of torture and malice, but stuff like the following give me a bit of an uncomfortable feeling:

It’s where I act like I’m going to grab her head and she bats at my hand.

I hold a dog treat right out of reach of my pugs, and watch them desperately reach their tongues out, trying to wrap it around the treat.

When my bunny is running around I’ll suddenly run a few steps towards her. She freaks and runs (usually doing happy feet) in the other direction. Then she ran head first into a wall.
I’m sure no-one is doing this to deliberately inflict suffering on their beloved pets, but intentionally frightening, provoking or teasing a pet just seems a bit... mean-spirited at the least.

I'm just playing with her. I never actually cause her any pain, and usually after we play "claw" she curls up either in my lap or beside me purring.

I like to play with my cats with a laser pointer it's fairly cruel since they can't catch it.

I also like to stick scotch tape to their feet, it makes them walk funny...

I'm mean. :(

I KNEW you had a dark side Smunkee!

Hehe, have you tried the double sided tape?

I tickle my dog right at the base of her tail, which she finds almost as funny as I do. You can always see her thought process so perfectly: "Hey! What? What was that? Who did that? ....OH, YOU TICKLED ME! THAT'S FUNNY! Now I'll bounce up and down and give you kisses!" :p

I also will occasionally fake throwing her toy one direction before throwing it another way, but that only works when she's exceedingly excited already, because she's too smart not to catch me doing it the rest of the time.

with my grandparents dog i will get on my knees and quickly crawl a couple paces towards him. he turns and runs run the opposite direction around to the other entrence to the room. while he is runing i turn to where he is going, then i repeat the process. we just do that till one of us bored.

My old dog's favorite game was to charge me at his top speed (pretty damn fast) and see if he could dive out of the way on the last bound. He usually won, but when I out-guessed him, he'd be in for some pain as he collided with my knee. :p Not exactly teasing, but that's the best I could think of.

I used to have a rat that was very self-conscious about his appearance. After he'd finish grooming, I'd mess up his fur. He'd push my hand away with nose and paws, and then go back to very careful grooming.

He was also kind of fat, and thus bowling pin shaped when sitting up right. Easy to gently tip over when sitting on the carpet or sofa.

hmmm...

I dangle my finger in my crayfish tank and she tries to get at it.
when she does, she then tries to climb up my finger.

when I drop food pellets in their tank, I try to have it land on their backs. sometimes they actually twist and snatch it while it's still dropping.

I turn on my airstones and let them play in the bubbles.

I mess with cats constantly. Don't know why, except that cats seem to have that air of dignity that makes it funner than with dogs. Messing with dogs is too easy and they don't seem to notice.

Giving the cat sitting on the back of the couch a good scratch, the kind they get all into and start leaning into, working it until their balanced on your hand, which I lift. The quick grab to claw themselves back up on the couch and then pretend that they didn't just almost fall on the floor...

Spinning the chair they're sitting in. This one I feel kind of bad about, but the last cat I lived with actually jumped back in the chair afterwards and kept meowing at me until I did it again.

My brother's cats are fiends for the laser pointer. They'll wake me up to see if maybe it might be time to play with the laser. They even try to turn it on themselves. Or kill it, it's hard to tell...

I can't think of anymore right now, and what I listed was kind of tame. I haven't had a pet for over a year now, but I want a rabbit like crazy.

I dont know anything about dogs or bunnies, but my cat really likes "grab my head" as a game, she'll start it herself when i'm petting her. It's not intended as mean at all, it's just a fun game really. (i dont hold on to her head or hurt her at all, the game just consists of me trying to grab her head and she trying to kill me)

Take a spoonful of peanut butter, scoop it up with your fingers and jam it onto the roof of your dog's mouth. It's hilarious as they spend the next half hour flicking their tongue trying to get it all off. Plus my dog loves peanut butter, so it's a treat for her and cheap comedy for me.

Cats are funny, i recall using the old string technique, one of them goes beserk the other doesn't care. The red dot from a laser pen is brillaint idea, have to try that sometime.
Usually after they've eaten the cats don't even need to be teased they jump about all over the place.
And one has a fixation with attacking all creases on a bed or blanket when he's sitting on it, most funny to watch.
One cat just sits about and is more like a pillow with fur, the other is a killer and takes out about 25% of all birds that dare land in the garden, and about 15% of voles and mice, they haven't figured out the hedgehog attack because they're too prickly. (at home that is).
Warm weather is best for cats, for dogs cold weather (or wet).:)

I hide my dog's toys and he finds them. Sometimes people think I'm being mean but my dog always brings his toys to me when I come home. He loves it. He doesn't carry his toys to anyone else, because they just throw it and that's boring.
