Fried mushrooms (with butter and herbs mixed in), add to whatever you choose be it Pizza, potato, bread, soup or whatever you prefer. I love mushrooms yummmmmm.
Either that or make some pancakes because they are easy to make and the first one made is always a disaster (for me anyway), dunno if mushroooms go with them though.
Oh and have some pistachio's with them for the hell of it.
Then some jaffa cakes, with gherkins and soy sauce. Actually thinking about that made my stomach cringe with agony eurrgh.
This has nothing to do with 'slow-cookers' that you mean of, i thought you were saying you were a slow cooker, oops
Just the beef roast? I throw potatoes and baby carrots in with it. Gives them a nice beefy flavor. Mmmmm.yum. Now I'm hungry.
Besides the roast..I only use my slow cooker for beef stew. Or..actually...beef soup. Cubed beef, potatoes, onions, celery, water and McCormick beef stew seasoning all thrown in at the same time.

Well, I'm following the recipe exactly this time(well near exactly) which doesn't mention veggies in the crockpot. The roast is sprinkled with liquid smoke and seasoning and then wrapped in aluminum foil. It's cooked in the slow cooker dry. I'm not sure how veggies would do in a dry crockpot. I suspect they'd be okay.
Oh, and Khadgar is right. The only bad thing about crockpot cooking is the maddening smell permeating everything. *stomach growls*

This is started when you go to bed.
1 32 oz bag frozen hashbrowns
1 pound of bacon, cooked, drained and crumbled or diced ham depends on your preference
1 medium onion diced
1 green pepper diced
1.5 cups shredded cheese of choice (I like mont/jack)
1 dozen eggs
1 cup milk
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
can do green chilies if you like them.
place layer of hashbrowns followed by layer of meat, onions, pepper and cheese. repeat layers. ending with cheese. beat the egg, milk salt and pepper and pour over the layered items in the crock-pot. cook on low 10-12 hours.
I had doubts but it turned out great. basically you can put in your favorite omelet ingredients. Its a full breakfast. I also have made it for dinner.

Potatoes themselves are fairly high in caloric value, which is why no one who is in Ireland, or has ever been in Ireland (even if jsut stopping there on a flight) has ever eaten anything other than potatoes ever, at any time, under any circumstance.
Though they were actually very good for Irelands economy and popluation when they finally did make it across the Atlantic.

I actually can't have most of the really bad stuff that people eat, and yes, people even bitch when I eat healthy food. I just think it's really rude to comment on what other people eat when you (general you) don't even follow the rules you set out.
A few weeks ago my kid had a sour stomach so I had her with a 7-up and some rice cakes to calm it, this mom comes up to me "oh, I can't believe you let her have soda! that's so bad for her!" so, I take a peek at what her kid is eating, hmm...."juice" which has the first three ingredients of high fructose corn syrup, sugar, corn syrup, and some gold fish crackers with extra real cheese! yeah, that's so fucking healthy....

Thats kinda funny. I thought everone (especially moms) knew 7-up helped ease stomache upset-ness. I drink frequent soda... hasn't killed me yet....
A lot of people don't seem to realize that fruit juices are high in sugar, granted a lot of it is natural sugar (so long as the juice is not from concentrate) and a bit better, but it's not like it's the ultimate heath pick of the century. Gold fish are ok as well, but again, not spectacular.
My cousins grew up with the rule '1 can of soda/day' which was a fairly reasonable rule, it taught them something like budgeting (when is the best time to have a soda, and should I drink all of it at once?) as well as teaching them that soda is somehting that should be enjoyed in relative moderation.
I vote that you should've punched the other mom.

Smoked roast beef? That sounds really good!!! I make a pretty good pot roast with a hunk of stewing beef, a can of lager, a can of cream of mushroom soup, a packet of french onion soup powder mix, and a bunch of sliced carrots, and halved onions, and quartered large potatoes or halved small potatoes (I prefer red jacket potatoes). I am sure that it has enough cholesterol and sodium to instantly kill a senior citizen, but i only make it once a month.

I use my crockpot mostly to make beef stew:
1.25 to 1.5 pounds of beef. I try to find the cheapest steak available and cut it up. If no bargains, I buy stew meat and then trim any fat.
1 large can of diced carrots. I ain't dicing carrots. It's dangerous.
2 cans of peeled new potatoes. Yeah I'm lazy - I don't like to peel potatoes - besides, the liquid from the cans has starch in it and helps thicken the broth.
The only seasonings I use are salt, freshly ground black pepper and dried minced onions.
When fully cooked, I thicken the broth slightly with a very small amount of cornstarch dissolved in a cup of cold water.
It's a very simple, basic recipe - but tastes awesome!
