Weather accross the globe has become wild.

My favourite is the lightning in INDIANAPOLIS, USA.

The Gods demand a sacrifice! Or they will freeze the world. Like in that film Day after Tomorrow.
So regarding this news item that caught my eye, what is your favourite type of extreme weather?

Ooohhhh. Supercell.

Do you have many Tornados there?
I think Nebraska has the patent on tornadoes.

http://www.crazylanka.com/elephant.htm A story of an exploding elephant i couldn't locate any falling elephants (other than Douglas Adams).

Yeah we get those sort of days too, i remember walking up a hill as part of a school trip, and it was snowing at the top (not a big hill only a few hundred metres above sealevel), when we got back to school it was broad daylight, sun streaming down.:)

If I remember correctly the US gets something like 90% of the tornadoes in the world.

Thunder snow, followed by thunder storm, and anything else with lightning.

I feel the call of electricity again...

But we in the UK get the most per square mile, even if most are a bit wussy.

I enjoyed Hurricane Wilma. I don't think I've ever seen an entire swimming pool get blown away.

Oy, so many problems (http://intuitor.com/moviephysics/dayAft.htm) with that idiotic movie.

Extreme cold. I rather enjoy it.

It was -59°C (-74°F) in Uranium City earlier this week. That would have been fun. That's cold enough to kill trees.

Now, see, that was funny AND educational.

Thundersnow.

I've only seen it once, and it had me thinking that lightning arcing across a snowstorm can only be followed by locusts.

I'd like to invent my own weather conditions.

Mud Rain. That's self explanatory.

Thudding Snow. That's where 6 inches of snow falls in an area all at once.

Pienado. That's basically a tornado consisting primarily of banana cream. *nod*

ANd while I didn't invent it, I'd like to see it rain frogs and other living creatures more often.

"And now to Kip Freeze, reporting live from the lakefront, with the weather. Kip?"

"Thanks Jeb, well we're expecting this storm to bring in thudding snow right about..."

*whump*

"...Now. Back to you in the studio."

With the proper lake breeze, we can damn near get that.

Blizzards are great! Sit inside all day, drink cocoa, watch movies ...

And venture out to go to class because my college won't call off class for anything. Seriously.

This is my pick...

Since it is located at the base the Black Hills and only a few miles from the geographical center of the United States, the climate [in Spearfish, South Dakota] is highly variable. Spearfish holds the world record for the fastest temperature change. On January 22, 1943, at about 7:30am MST, the temperature in Spearfish, SD was −4 °F (−20 °C). The chinook kicked in, and two minutes later the temperature was 45 °F (7 °C) above zero. The 49-degree rise (27 °C) in two minutes set a world record that still holds. By 9:00am, the temperature had risen to 54 °F (12 °C). Suddenly, the chinook died down and the temperature tumbled back to −4 °F (−20 °C). The 58-degree drop (32 °C) took only 27 minutes[1].

Great thread. This is interesting.

Awesome article on Spearfish. Wonder if that's happened since then.

Not sure which extreme weather to choose. I think I'd probably have to pick the blizzard. :) Snow is absolutely beautiful to look at.
