((Yay for a clean computer and a new more efficient browser!))

Ok, so today I was driving to my night class, and while my normal radio program "Matt and Ramona" was during commercial, I switched to 1110 WBT. I just heard the stupidest thing. Apparently the Right Wing Conservative base are upset because McCain is now the most viable candidate for the Republican Party. They are upset because apparently he's not a true Conservative. So what does this Conservative base decide to do? Why they are going to do a write in vote! Ok, so who's their choice, none other than Ronald Reagan!

Yea, ok great, except for one...well two tiny little problems. 1. He's DEAD! and two, Well the last time I recall, he already served two terms, so even if he wasn't dead, he still wouldn't be viable.

Are they sending a message, maybe, but to write in "Ronald Reagan", that takes a new kind of idiot. And people say I'm wasting my vote when I vote Libertarian.

Maybe, just maybe, when 2009's elections are over, and the winner is announced, in a grave somewhere, Ronald Reagan will crawl out of it, going "braaaainsss".

Zombie for president. :p

Reporter: Mr President, what are your plans for the economy?
ZRR: "Braaaaiiiinsssss"
Reporter: What about the education? Especially the NCB policies?
ZRR: "Braaaaiiiinsssss"
Reporter: Clearly a forward thinking president.

XD. Anyway, I don't understand why they have to write anyone in. I mean Huckabee is scary conservative and Romney is also on the ballot.

Yes, but comon, is there really a perfect candidate? Hell even the Libertarians don't have Perfect candidates for me to choose from, but I still vote for them because their candidates policies and voting records are the closes thing to my personal political belief.

When you feel that your choices, or choice in this matter, are so far adrift of what you stand for as an organization then you find a way to make a point that you are dissatisfied.

For the conservatives you choose a lionized figure, ol' Ronnie is it for the modern American conservative, and they're reminding their leadership that that is what they want.

Now, don't take this as me agreeing with them. If they really don't want McCain then they still have Super Tuesday, get to fucking work. And a New Ronnie is a horrible idea.

Lewis Black makes an excellent case for electing a dead Reagan:

So... they don't like McCain, can't they just vote for Huckabee? He wants to rewrite the constitution in God's standard. Doesn't that appeal to those conservatives?

Also, I wouldn't capitalise conservative. I thought for a moment Wilgrove was talking about the Canadian Conservative Party, (Conservatives for short), and yes, they are right-wing.

I think I found the stumbling block here. Finding a significant number of Reagan supporters who can do joined-up handwriting.

You're WAY overanalyzing it. The fact that you even got as far as pointing out someone can't be elected to a 3rd term.

It's called sending a message. It's called a protest. Be careful calling people idiots when you're the one who's missed the point.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but no.

Otherwise he'd be winning, wouldn't he?

I think this is a wonderful idea, and I hope that every single right-wing conservative who likes the idea does it.

It will be an excellent way to get the nut vote out of the way so that the candidate will have been picked by people who live in reality.

kinda late to whine about mccain now isnt it? if they wanted a true conservative they should have promoted..... thompson?

now there are no true conservatives running.

so are they really going to put in a vote to protest that reagan is dead and drain off the votes that mccain needs to defeat hillary clinton? are they really saying that they would prefer her to mccain?

they must be brain dead.

He spent a lot of money? Almost half as much a Bush.

Combined together *ca-ching* they are responsible for 75% of the nation's debt. The party of fiscal responsibility!

Sounds like they are Lewis Black fans. He talked about doing just that.. then digging up his grave and propping him up.. and bringing up William Rehnquist 'for good measure'.

Fuck's sake.
Not only are they the party of dead ideas, dead faith, state-sanctioned murder both domestic and foreign, but that's not enough. They really, really want death for almost everyone, leading example of their president.

A dead man would be a far more effective leader than anyone the evangelical right would honestly support.
