I don't really consider anyone "evil" or the devil; I agree that Bush was doing what he saw as best most of the time, but that doesn't excuse the hideous mess he has created. Throughout the ages, all sorts of people have committed terrible atrocities because they thought they were doing what was right.

War criminals don't deserve breaks. They deserve a trial.

He has caused more than enough hatred and "division" (as if unity was a good thing) than we could possibly muster by providing snarky insults.

If you thing he was actually trying to do this world any good, beyond helping his class and fulfilling his frustrated nationalistic dreams, then I would have to say you are not in touch with how the world actually works.

I've always liked President Bush, and I've never met anyone who hated him (in person, and in this country, that is). His approval ratings are what they've been for two years now: about 40%, with dips and spikes of about 4% now and then. He's never been hated by the average person, and will be remembered fairly well.

As for his SOTU address tonight, I'd say it was decent enough, if a little dry.

You make it sound like Bush is weeping right this minute over the hate NSG expresses towards him.

When his approval rating is so low, it is essentially the people who don't dislike him who are fostering division, no?

Go on, insult me and insult him. What more will it accomplish?

It'll make me feel better. You both smell like butt! *nod*

DO WANT.

I'm saying is that when it comes down to it, he's just a human being. No one's perfect. Some are more close to perfect than others, some less.

I don't consider Bush the devil. I don't see any good reasons, (apart from that Bush isn't the devil) for those who do to stop hating him simply to 'give the man a break'. To Godwin this thread right now, I don't believe that people should stop hating Hitler to give him a break from being most loathed man of the 20th century, for example.

Stop hating Bush because he's not hateful (just rather silly). Don't stop hating Bush just because you've hated him for a long time.

Interesting that he was talking about proposing a balanced budget, yet he's asking for more $$$ to fund all of his international, and domestic programs. Also after 7 years in office, he NOW wants to stop earmarks, where the hell has he been for the last 7 years? Oh and there's the infamous nu-cu-ler talk again, it'll be great to have an intelligent president next year...

Though seeing the expression on Clinton's face during several sections of the speech made it all worth it to sit through that speech.

"I've got God's shoulder to cry on. And I cry a lot. I do a lot of crying in this job. I'll bet I've shed more tears than you can count, as president." --George W. Bush, as quoted by author Robert Draper in Dead Certain

Don't compare me with that loser. I'm have a shred of dignity still left in me.

What I'm saying is what have we come to as a nation? You can disagree with him and hate him, but for God's sake, at the end of the day, he's just a man.

If he was crying over NSG hating him, I would hold less respect for him.

Really? Really? You're going to blame the 'Bush haters' for all of this now? Really? And you're going to appeal to the ol' "Poor picked on George?"

Before there was a George W. in the ol' Oval there was a party that spent $10 million tax payer dollars on a dirt hunt on the president. While there was a President he mislead a country to war, he and his administration has demonized and slung mud at anyone who criticized them and now you want us to get all weepy about his poor little feelings?

He and his party divided this country and now that they're coming together against him he, or you, want us to feel sorry for him?

No soap.

He did attack Afghanistan after 9/11. That was one thing I think we all agreed with, right?

Well, yeah. When the US gets attacked, the mastermind of the attack is the pet houseboy of a scuzbucket buddha-defacing illegitimate national leader in the middle of a civil war, we say, 'Give him to us now." and they say, "No! Go fuck yourselves, you american pigdogs!" Of course they're getting invaded. ANybody who knows AMerican History should have known that symbolic actions like 9/11 are exactly the sort of thing that drives us fucking apeshit. Bush really had no choice whether he wanted to or not. It's the AMerican Way. :)

Did I ever say it was right for us to do that?

No, don't f***ing put words in my mouth.
I didn't put a single word in your mouth. You want us to feel all bad for poor Georgie. You said us picking on poor Georgie was dividing us. I beg to differ. I assert that it was poor Georgie and his actions that divided us. Nothing put in your mouth but your foot.

Please, delete this thread.

I don't have that power.

I'm saying is that when it comes down to it, he's just a human being. No one's perfect. Some are more close to perfect than others, some less.

A human being who thinks god talks to him. A human being who has lied about everything from his accent to Iraq, yet somehow he sleeps normally at night. This human being is a sociopath.

Seriously, anyone who identifies themselves as 'conservative' has to see that this fucker hasn't conserved a goddamn thing. And where was all this tolerance about 'he's not perfect' when Clinton was in office?

Not that criticism is unwelcome, indeed it's absolutely vital to our freedom. But good ol' king george doesn't like criticism. He likes his ideas to go by unchallenged, just like haliburton liked those no-bid contracts.

To say that our criticism is spreading divisiveness is asinine. If you can't stand the heat don't claim to be a great firefighter.
