In your opinion who is the best NBA team if standings were not recorded. What do you think is the best player.

For me it would be Celtics and Bryant.:sniper:

If we're talking this year I vote for the San Antonio Spurs...I don't care that the New Orleans Hornets beat them pretty well on Saturday night and lead them this year in the standings, the Spurs have been so great for so long that their standard is the one to beat. Just behind them I'd take the Detroit Pistons, although I do think they've fallen off a tad since Ben Wallace left town.

All-time? I don't see how Red Auerbach's Boston Celtics teams of 1956-67 don't hold that title. You don't win eight straight championships and nine in ten years without being legendary. I'd probably argue that's the greatest team in all of sports (North America, anyway), since that standard hasn't come close to being matched anywhere else.

Call me crazy, but I have created a New England Patriots basketball team. In 1995 ESPN ran a feature on SportsCentre about "franchise free agency", noting the frequency and the ease teams at the time were able to move around cities (the teams they focused on were the Los Angeles Raiders and Rams, as well as the (old) Cleveland Browns). They reported that there were (at the time) 113 major professional sports teams (now it's at 123, I believe), and only five of them (at the time) had never moved or changed arenas (that number is now down to four). Anyway, being the creative type (and a sports game fanatic), it inspired me to ponder the idea that each club could field a team for every sport, so that means not only do the Patriots have a football team, they've got a basketball team, a baseball team, a hockey team, a soccer team, ballroom dancing, whatever.

Just thought I'd throw that in there. I know you were referring to something else entirely but I just wanted to say that somehow, somewhere, there really is a Patriots basketball team...even if it is just in my head (and my XBox :p).
