So a few days ago, I get a call from my sister: "If you aren't listening, turn on Toucher and Rich." *click*

Now, Toucher and Rich are the hosts of an afternoon radio program here in Boston, and are quite popular, as well as very amusing. So I had some high expectations.

Turns out that the guys had heard about the Westboro Baptist Church's plans to protest at Heath Ledger's funeral. They decided to interview one of the members live on the radio (I think it was the usual crazy-haired lady) under the pretense that they were from a radio station Praise108. Unfortunatly, it would seem that they didn't screen their ads too carefully.

While the woman never shuts up, and doesn't really ever get shot down, it is pretty good to hear how a woman of her mentality reacts to a "fag" asking how big her son's penis is.

I'm torn. These people should be derided and scorned wherever they go, but doing so gives them the attention they need to survive (and the opportunities for lawsuits they need to make money).

Which is why, imo, they should just be quietly gunned down with no press coverage. That would sort the problem out. For good.

They have been protesting the funerals of murdered gays (Matthew Shepherd), military funerals, the funerals of the girls killed in the school shooting in PA, and now it would seem celebrities.


And I'm fine with them being used as comic relief.

Why would I? They're theologically right, and I am not in the habit of "attacking" protests, as I'm sort of fond of freedom of expression.

After listening to the Toucher & Rich stream, I am forced to admit that (although I do not believe in mocking peoples beliefs) I found it hilarious to the maximum.

Does this mean I am going to hell too? If so, then maybe I should stock up on marshmallows.

If the people in the WBC are right about who goes to hell and who goes to heaven, we don't want to go to heaven anyway. I mean, think about it; it'd be full of hateful little bigots. Might as well go down to party with the cool crowd.

Honestly i was laughing through at least half of it, made my day, i think people like that woman are made by God (if he/she does exist, for the purposes of this post he/she does) so everyone can have a good laugh.;)

What troll lure? I agree with the Phelpses about Christianity's views on gay people - I've never made that secret. I don't hold those views, of course (being a gay atheist that views all religions as imbecillic), but their views are the ones best supported and longest held by their religion, so for me to somehow "argue" against them in that respect would be quite silly.

I downloaded that podcast a few days ago and it RUULES! Toucher and Rich kick all sorts of ass, and I commend their bravery in taking on Westboro :p.

There's no way to defeat the Westboro Baptist Church save ignoring them, since they revel in ALL publicity. However their actions are too outrageously offensive to just "turn the other cheek". The best alternative then is to have a good laugh at their expense, which is what these guys are good at.

I recommend everyone check out their podcast section. It's full of a lot of funny stuff.

Westboro Baptist members are so far removed from reality. Maybe if they just take a step back and read about what Jesus, the guy they CLAIM to be doing a service for, had to say, they'd realize that they have a much better shot of going to hell than any homosexual. I mean, seriously... Shit like this in the name of religion is what has given religion itself a bad name throughout the years.

R.I.P. Heath Ledger, kudos on having the guts to make a movie as progressive as Brokeback Mountain, and I can't wait to see you in Dark Knight.
