Just watched it last night...What an amazing film...really enjoyed it...now I learn it is based on a novel by Cormac mccarthy...has anyone read it?

I ask because in most cases the novel is greater than the film.

Whatever the case...this is the Cohen Brothers back to their very best...

Well, I don't know what movie you're referring to, but I can talk about I Am Legend if you'd like.

That being said, :::smacks BoE around the ears:::

I've heard it's excellent but haven't had a chance to see it - hasn't played here and wasn't playing or out on DVD when I was home. :(

well obviosly it was a very good movie that really deserves a lot more press, I personally think it was movie of the year and have encouraged just about everyone I know to get off their lazy asses and see it.

yeah but has anyone read the novel?

Apparently the same author released a book called 'The Road' about a post apocolyptic world...that has had great reviews

I've seen it. I thought it was great, hope to read the book sometime.

More chance that I see it again though. Unless I can get it from the library

Required reading for an aficionados of the post-apocalyptic setting apparently.

It was a good movie, until the end (which I won't explain). It was....wierd...and dissapointing....but the rest of the film rocked!

The guy carries a pressurized canister which he uses to blow doorknobs and people. Is that even viable...like the weight of the thing and how many times it can be used..

It is used for killing cattle in an abbatoir, so I'd say it is safe to assume it is powerful enough, and that it can be used numerous times.

How can you not love it?

(Especially since the Coen's seem to love unusual hairstyles themselves)

I think the ending fitted with it perfectly. It made the film stop on just the right note imo

Saw it. Loved it. Will buy the book. Excellent exploration of the sociopathic psyche.

Throughout the last 20 minutes or so, I could feel the hand of the director pressing down on me and shoving my face into the mud. Mashing down again with each fade to black.
Up to the point where everyone gets to the final motel, it was good, but after that ... yuck.

Since I replied I've been thinking about the ending. Admittedly I was just thinking of the last scene [possible spoiler]where TLJ talks about his dreams[/possible spoiler]. Which I think was fine and a perfect way to end the film.

I can kinda get a sense of what people mean, but still think it was fine.

They only bit I didn't appreciate too much was Javier Bardem's final scene, but that could be because I'm a bit thick :). It seemed a bit too heavy handed to me.

But meh, it's better then a punch in the face
