Wondering, how fast do you normally drive on the highway? Myself I average 90-100 if conditions are good.

Route 42? Maybe 65.
AC Expressway? Maybe 70.
Usually 5-10 over the limit.
Variations of up to +5 mph tacked onto the speed limit.
it depends a lot on what i am driving at the time...if its something older or bigger, i drive at or below the speed limit. in the mazda6 that i used to have i have driven it at 120mph which is where the governor kicks in. the truck i have now i usually keep at about 5 over the speed limit.

However fast the traffic is moving. If that means 10 mph over, that's how fast I go. If it means 5 under, then fine.
If there is no traffic, I typically go 5-10 over the limit, assuming ideal conditions (that is, no rain, I'm not trying to find my turn in an unknown area, etc.)

in most areas, I will go exactly 79. From my experience and talks with cop friends, they look for 80+. This seems to be consistant for 55 and 65 mph areas
I usually range from 70mph to 80mph on highways where the speed limit is 70mph. I've gotten pulled over twice for doing 15mph over the limit and it is not an enjoyable thing, so I've tried to go slower lately.
Depending on traffic, 70-85 mph.

yeah...one ticket for going 83 was enough for me. I can think of better things to do with $263...and borderline wreckless endangerment to boot.
I don't drive.
If I did I'd probably drive around 393700 feet/hour in the summer and 393700 decainches/hour in the winter.
I like to follow the speed limits, y'know.

There is nothing wrong with going the speed limit.
The only I dont like is people who think it is they're job to stop me from speeding.

I wouldn't do that unless I was in a police squad car, but neither would I allow someone to just push me out of their way. I've had people run me off the road doing that.

I try to keep a safe speed. Mostly I blend into traffic, although I try to stay off the highway as much as I can, the drivers here are a mixture of 18 wheelers that I am frightened of, rednecks who think going fast is fun (even if it's unsafe), old people going 30 in a 70, and SUV cell phone addicts who drift through life running over people like me.
I have my kids to think of. I would rather be late than dead.

Well, I agree with that, its not your job to stop me from speeding unless your a cop.
I hate people who " block " speeders, it just causes accidents.
I drive 90-100 mostly kuz i am totally comfortable with it.

Dude if you live in Houston, you probably see a couple of guys racing, thats me and friend driving against some guy. Also I don't drive, but my friend goes 5 mph above the speed limit usually if hes not racing but he does hit 80 in a 25 sometimes if its empty. He has a police radar to tell him if theres cops nearby.

No, I don't try to block speeders. Not intentionally anyway.
But if there's only one lane you can legally drive in, and I'm not driving fast enough for you, you're just going to have to deal with it. I won't move over nor will I speed up. That's the sort of thing I meant. I've been pushed over in such conditions, usually with damage to my vehicle.

Some people thinks its nascar racing sometimes fyi by trying to block
This is random but this old man in Korea got torn to pieces in a highway, His car ran out of gas so he parked nearby and there was gas station nearby and the cars looked like they were far away. As he walked he was just 30 ft from reaching it and then he got hit by a car then another car and etc, they couldn't see the old man.... They found pieces of him. They also found out all the drivers were going 85 mph in a 60 mph zone. Well Korea's motto is "hurry hurry" so thats an expense of it. Old mans fault too though, retarded enough to walk across a highway...

I like to drive around 75, but usually traffic is too heavy for that. I won't drive that fast in bad weather or at night either.

Well thats fine. Im talking about people who jut into the left lane and match speed exactly with the car next to them.
Well thats fine. Im talking about people who jut into the left lane and match speed exactly with the car next to them.
Now that is inconsiderate and I would never do that.
I drive between 90 and 100, and less than 10. I live in a high traffic area with lots of mountains and bridges. I have to cross a bridge. Traffic is always moving less than 10 over a bridge. Even if the bridge, and the road after it, has more lanes than the road before the bridge. Point and case, the bridge I have to cross. The highway is too lanes wide, then the bridge is three, then the road after is four (technically, it splits into two two lane highways).
But um yeah, if possible, I do 90-100. The speed limit on my route is between 50-60 everywhere except the bridge and the bit of road before it which is 80.
Please note all speeds are in km/h as it is the superior unit. All you yanks can divide by 1.61.

Usually about 75-80 mph. Once, when I was very, very, very, very young and exceedingly foolish, I achieved low orbit (@ 175 mph in a Ford Escort - yes, once upon a time they could go that fast) - that was scary and won't happen again.

I voted for 90-110 before I realised you were talking about miles & not kilometres. The speed limit here is 100 or 110 km/h depending on the road.

70-80 on the freeway.
First ticket I ever got was only a few weeks ago, but the cop promised me I'd win if I demanded 'trial by written declaration,' which I plan to do. We'll see if he ('they,' actually) were telling me the truth or playing a joke soon. :p

Normally in Britain? About 5mph. But that's because I've only driven once on the motorway (I don't have a car) and was stuck in a traffic jam for an hour.

mph or km/h ?
me, 120 to 150 km/h by day and 110 to 130 km/h by night.
As fast as the driver will take me.
Generally 5-10 km/h over the speed limit, which is 100 km/h or 120 km/h, depending on the road.
There are two things that annoy me on the highway:
1 - Tailgaters
2 - People who slow down to 10 km/h below the speed limit because there is a speed camera somewhere
1 is far worse though, people who find their own haste more important than someone else's (and their own) life. Two seconds driving distance please, thank you.
i don't.
when i did though, and if and when i do again, i fallow the simple rule of keeping the same pace as the flow of traffic (which usually is arround five mph over the posted limit) unless superceeded by impaired conditions of the roadway or vehicule, and then whatever those require for maximum safety. (and yes, that includes the safety of other vehicules on the road or guideway)
i prefer though, to ride and for there to be, some sort of guideway based shaired transport infrastructure, wherever there is sufficient traffic flow to warent it. which all too often these days, annoyingly and offencively, due mostly i suspect, to ignorance as well as greed, there is not. or not near the perfectly reasonable and practical adiquacy there could be.
yes i live in the u.s. which is pretty messed up for transportation compaired to what it could be. as it is for a number of other things.

130, because that's the limit around here. I don't drive often, that is, I haven't driven in half a year. I am also being willfully silent about mph or kph, because the OP was.

I don't drive.
Maximum speed on Nationals here is 100km/h, I believe.
It depends on the highway, the weather, the traffic, and my mood. The highway I take to work has a 55 MPH limit. I usually do 60+.

Usually in the 70-75 range, although I make exceptions for unique circumstances, such as New Years Eve, when the po-po's are on the prowl.
Somewhere between 100 and 120km/h depending on the traffic flow. The speed limit is 100km/h.

No faster than 75 mph, and slower if conditions call for it. I believe I've gone 40 mph on the interstate before because of heavy rain or ice.

as I'm on probation for speeding, (I went 85 in a 70, in the middle of the night 30 miles from the last gas station, driving my friends home from the hospital...there is no justice) I'm kind of paranoid at the moment and tend to go the speed limit...on average it was more like 5-10 miles over the speed limit.

mph or km/h ?
me, 120 to 150 km/h by day and 110 to 130 km/h by night.
From work to the GFs house ect, I normally take the same way, and after driving on it for 3 years, I know when the police are there and where they hide. So most of the I average 100mph.
I don't drive, but I figure I'd go about the speed limit, hopefully without breaking it. Or crashing into the traffic jam in front of me.

you missed out 80-90, so i voted 70-80. i try not to go above 90 as they take away your licence if they catch you at that speed...
i assume we're talking mph and in good conditions

slowest i've gone is 20mph on the Severn Bridge to Wales, when the rain and wind was bad enough that i could barely see the end of my bonnet, yet alone the road or other cars :-S

As fast as it is safe (and legal) to drive.
Assuming ideal conditions, about ten to fifteen miles over the speed limit (normally about 75-85 mph). If the weather is bad, below 40 mph; if traffic is heavy, as fast as traffic is moving. I don't use freeways very often, to clarify.

Used to drive 80-85 (65 zone). Found out it was killing my mileage. Since then I've started hypermiling, and I do 55-60. Improved from 29 mpg's to 35.7, and that's driving through mountains.
How fast do I drive on the HW? The speed limit.
I hate it when people ride my bumber. Seriosuly, 2ft at 60+ mph is not safe following distance.
