This is not spam. I'm just sharing this with you lot.

Within 15 minutes of the time of the OP, the shoutcast will go live. There are 22 open slots. I don't take up one because I'm sitting next to the dj.

For those who are interested in techno music and enjoy listening to live mixes, you may want to listen in here: http://216.66.69.90:6870/listen.pls

And the dj mixing this insists that I tell you he's my husband.

He also INSISTS (his emphasis) that I post this: He is not responsible for this endorsement.

:) Enjoy NSG and share my misery with me!

Listening now. That scratching he was doing at the beginning was kind of nifty, not so keen on the track at the moment though.

Tell that I think the track is alright now. It just took a while to get good.

;) I'm still waiting for it to get good.

For those who are interested, there's still room and it'll go for a while.

Looking at a pic of your husband on his site, he doesn't look much like a techno DJ. :p

Anyway, I can't listen to his stuff anymore I gotta go to bed. Nice job though!

edit: the URL of the DJ is provided on winamp if you didn't know, you might want him to take it off if its got private info and all that.

I don't really like trance music to be honest, it's hard to say why, but I find it to 'happy', that's not really a problem with most other genres but the happiness in trance seems to shallow and fake and 90's, it's just not my cup of tea.

It's getting better, I like the song with the woman with the french accent, I do like the kitch elektro songs :p.
Agreed.

Tell your husband that he's pretty excellent, if you'd be so kind, Kryo.

It sounds like he'll get to have his own show. The website that hosts that ShoutCast, Radiogrounds is offering him a show. :)

Im surprised that people are still listening to techno...from what ive heard most of the modern stuff is shite...used to DJ it in the late 80s early 90s...mainly industrial stuff coming out of germany/holland and then later the more housey Detroit stuff...pioneers like Stu Allen and Andrew Weatherall were playing exceptional stuff at that time too...but the techno im hearing these days seems to has lost its edge...which reflects in the downturn in demand...im living in Manchester and you would do well to find one popular techno night these days...just no demand for it

What kind of music is in high demand nowadays? And tbh it was mostly trance, no real techno.

My husband prefers the styles of the 90s. I think around '93.

Then again, the styles do vary slightly from year to year.

Most of the newer stuff sounds like just noise. The stuff my husband was playing last night was a good mix, though not my cup of tea. :)

That’s totally the opposite of the case up here in Glasgow. Techno is still incredibly popular, especially with Pressure (http://www.slamevents.com/clubupdates/pre), possibly Scotland’s only superclub, putting on world-class DJ’s every month. Matthew Dear last time, Derrick May this month. Hawtin, Weatherall & Tenniswood, Villalobos and others played last year.

On the other hand, mini-tech is getting bigger and bigger (accompanied by the foul noise that is dub-step), and ‘traditional’ techno is sort of falling by the wayside. Being a big fan of mini-tech and glitch, I’m not too bothered, but it’s good to hear some harder beats at smaller clubs or the odd free party.

Just wait till it’s not so dreich and cold, then the glens and hills will come alive to the semi-legal sounds of boomtishboomtishboomtish.

Its weird...I sort of grew out of techno...think it was as I got older I started doing less and less recreational drugs and couldnt get into it as much...now I just DJ soul/reggae and rare groove...though ive always had an eclectic taste so ive always been into these genres running alongside my techno years

I was into more unusual techno...anything on harthouse (from Berlin) , Industrial Strength (Another German gabba label) Plus 8 records, D-Jax Up Beats (From Holland)

Is Sven Vath still DJing techno? He was a god at the time...remember going to see him at the Orbit club in Morley...him and Egg Bam Yasi

I used to really like experimental stuff too...early Underground Resistance pressings were really off the wall!!

Big fan here of both Plus 8 and Industrial Strength; brings me back to the days of alternating between glitchy Detroit-esque techno nights and sweaty, gabba/breakcore clubs. We may have only a few great gigs per year, but, damn, Scotland has a good dance scene.

Is Sven Vath still DJing techno?
He is indeed. And he’s lost none of his skill. There was a time where I listened to very little except Vath, Umek and Speedy J.

Eastern European techno ftw!

...now I just DJ soul/reggae and rare groove...though ive always had an eclectic taste so ive always been into these genres running alongside my techno years

I've loved all kinds of electronica from downtempo to funky breaks to trance to gabber for the past 15 years or so. I DJed a little set online last night and surprised myself by playing many deep house, melodic techno, and tribal tracks. Very "earthy" and "mature" music if you dig. Techno can be grown-up too! :)

I was into more unusual techno...anything on harthouse (from Berlin) , Industrial Strength (Another German gabba label) Plus 8 records, D-Jax Up Beats (From Holland)

I'm ripping Decks FX and 909 on Plus8 to my hard drive this very moment. Your taste in music and labels is impeccable.

I believe he is still DJing and producing. Class act.

I'm obsessed with Venetian Snares from Winnipeg, Canada. Here's the video to my favourite song of his. Dig the time signature.

Haha...thanks for the compliment...and I return it...you obviously have a grasp on what the good elements of techno are...I suppose ive been out of the genre for a long time but I just see no creativity in the new stuff coming out...to be honest ive never seen trance as good music...I find it incredibly tedious and soulless...techno was about so much more than that

incidentally I have rediscovered the Acid Junkies who released a limited edition yellow vinyl on DJax up Beats...the tune 'Sector 7' was one of my all time fave acid/techno tracks of all time...if you havn't heard it...check it out Brian!!

though out of techno...I still dip my toe in electronica from time to time...Charlie Dark out of London releases stuff under the 'Blacktronica' name...which is basically a fusion of soul/hip-hop and electronic beats...very very good...and a good fusion of all the music I love...Amp Fiddler too...although predominantly soul...fuses his vocals with modern techno beats

I suppose what im saying is that although ive strayed away from DJing techno...I still hold a soft spot in my heart for it...the aforementioned...coupled with Acid...was my first foray into the world of dance music when my DJing path began in 1988/89 so it will always hold a special place in my heart

If you have a myspace brian...please feel free to add me...mine is
