Would you have voted for Victoria Woodhull (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_Woodhull) for President of the United States, if you were alive at the time?

Would I vote for a woman? Certainly. Would I vote for Hilary Clinton? No.

Would I vote for Woodhull? Admittedly I only skimmed, but yes.

When it comes to politics, gender is not a quality worth even considering. I'd vote for a man or a woman depending entirely on thier policies, competence and admittedly charisma.

Unlikely, as I would only be a year into being German and would find that much more exciting.

I have voted for women - 47.3% of Swedish MEPs are female.

I would however never vote for this woman. Her 19th century values (anti-abortion, pro-eugenics) are preposterous.

Your understanding of chromosomal karyotypes and gender is severely lacking. Here's a hint: Y is the chromosome that makes you biologically male, not female.

I'm not gonna read the article, nor give my opinions about Woodhull (As I have none).

I am anxious about the idea of a female president. Not because I feel women cannot lead as well, but rather, I feel that our first female president will almost be more of a celebrity. Think of how many interviews, and shows would focus on her. I feel that it would be detrimental to her doing her job in a serious way.

Also, I really don't want Hillary to win, we've already had her as president for eight years... we don't need more.

If I could have voted for Woodhull, I probably would have. She clearly had the chops for the job, though her later positions on abortion and eugenics would give me pause. The article didn't give me a good idea of when she changed her opinions on those issues. Plus, if I figured the timeline right, if she had been elected, her husband -- the First Gentleman -- would have been Colonel Blood. How cool would that have been?

As for voting for a woman as a general proposition -- of course I would. I would vote for any competent and qualified candidate whose platform I approved of, regardless of sex.

I don't know about Victoria Woodhull--I'm not exactly clear on her policies, and I certainly don't understand the 1840s political landscape all that well--but I would most certainly vote for a woman if I felt she was the best for the position. Gender is not a qualifier, just like skin colour is not a qualifier. I do plan on voting for Obama, after all.

Of course! I have done so several times in the past, most recently at the general elections, a year ago.

She was a bitter woman who married a jerk. She wanted an excuse for screwing around.

It's funny how all the wealthy American whores, her and her sister included, went to England in the late 19th and early 20th century.

No for I would probably be living in Japan in 1872.

IF I were living in the USA in 1872, dunno really. because it would depend on

1) Whether or not I agreed with social views of women back then
and
2) Her stances on issues that I would've considered important back then

Disregarding that I still have 3 years to go before I can vote...
Would I vote for a woman? Of course. Would I vote for Clinton? No. Would I vote for Woodhill? No, for two reasons:
1. Same reason I wouldn't vote for candidates of pro-marijuana parties. She seems like a niche candidate running only on women's rights. (Even though I agree with both positions, for the record)
2. According to the article, she was not 35 at the time of the election and couldn't have been president anyway.

Probably just based off her "Free Love" platform.

As for today yes I would vote for a woman or any other mix of race if I felt they were the best person for the job. As for Hillary it is a big no for many reasons. Reason one she is a Clinton.

No, those with XXY chromosones do not have 2 sets of knackers. However, the scenario you describe could quite easily be used as the basis for a mediocre XXX film, so in a sense you're almost right :p

Sure, I'd prefer to to have a woman in power rather than a guy with the same policies. Men have done a crap job of running the world, with war and failing to deal with global warming and suchlike so I think its time we ban men from holding any position of political power. True, much evidence points to the fact that women can be just as bad as men in power (Thatcher). But I suppose we've got nothing to lose, so I stand by my policy proposition :D
