Those Darn Fanboys

I am not going to hijack Free Soviets' thread (The Ron Paul Reactionary Retard Report (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=547118)) with my dilemma. I'm nice like that. I'm going to make my own thread.

You see, it was on the first page that we had this come up and I feel that it isn't nice to hijack someone else's thread for your personal agenda. So, I'm making my own.

This is a little problem we need to solve.

What is a good name for those Ron Paul fanboys that seem to be like swarms of locusts taking the internet by storm?

I personally thought "Rontard" was a good one.

Paultards

Paulbots

But then I saw these and I became torn.

So, NSG, let's put it to a vote. I mean, who here is sick of seeing "Ron Paul 2008" posted everywhere? It was fine at first now it's just out of hand. I can no longer enjoy digg! :(

Note: this is meant in jest.

Seriously, 1776 was 200+ years ago.

His belief that "Since it was a non-existant Federal Government in the beginning that must be the correct way!"

What him and his kiss-ups don't realize that back then it took days to go from State to State, the country was too divided by distance to be more than a Confederation, but we don't live in a time where there is a problem like that now.

That's a reason why a confederation isn't necessary, but it's not a reason why a confederation isn't a good idea.

I'll be perfectly honest, I do agree with some of Ron Paul's positions and I think his international policies are desperately needed to repair the mess made by the Decider and his cronies (not to mention Democratic warmongers like Hillary Clinton), but some of his stuff is just out there.

Returning to the gold standard? Seriously, there was a reason we abandoned it. It just didn't work and works even less now, if you consider that a knowledge economy has far fewer ties to material production, making a monetary system based on a material rather impractical...the kind of industrial economy for which a metal standard was suited just doesn't exist anymore. We need a way to expand the money supply indefinitely in order to accommodate the effectively unlimited growth of ideas (obviously, there are still constraints in the application side of ideas, but falling resource intensity and technology itself help stretch out this limit considerably).

Well, the initial reason had to do with the Depression, but once the Depression ended it was pretty clear in retrospect that the system didn't work (and then, for some reason, we moved on to Bretton-Woods rather than floating exchange rates).

Stance on The Civil Rights Act (yeah that alone was enough to turn me away from and I'm far from a Liberal), Voting Rights Act, his naivety on environmental matters (global warming not serious, leaving individual states to decide enviromental policy) and education. Do I need to go on?

Also, does the guy really think that even a fraction of his ideas are going to get through Congress? No, he would need a congress made up entirely of his rabid internet supporters just to pass some of what he's proposing. I really don't want to vote for 4 years of constant gridlock, which is exactly what will happen if he by some miracle becomes President.

What security is to be found in a candidate who has - more than once - proposed laws that would have immediately bankrupted any US citizen without holdings in other currencies? Also, how would that push a strong economy?

i don't entirely get it either. just, a republican who's against a war that profits big bussinss and keeps it big. a libertarian republican. what a concept.

what? but isn't libertarianism what republicanism pretends to be? only maybe a little closer to more actually being it. or are libertarians just better poker players then the rest of us?

so i don't know. i just see him as being the least offencive, and just maybe redeaming, thing, from 'that side of the isle', which isn't mine.

but ok. that's fine with me.

i'm against putting economic interests ahead of the future survival of our own, and every other on the face of this planet, species.

so ron paul is a comforting thought, that even the republicans have at least one.

but that is as far as i feel confident to go about it.

Peace: Mixed record. In terms of foreign military action he seems pretty consistently opposed, but in terms of domestic peace...

Security: For wealthy white male heterosexuals? Yes. For anybody else? Not so much.

Strong economy: He'd keep all the Bush tax cuts. Nuff said.

Liberty: For white male heterosexuals, yes. For women, say goodbye to your fundamental human rights. For non-whites, enjoy being deported. For gays, Ron Paul will let you stay in the US as long as you also stay in the closet. Oh, and fuck the unions, while we're at it.

Of course, all I ever needed to know about Ron Paul is that he believes in Bill O'Reilly's made-up "War On Christmas." Sorry, but I've just sat through eight years of a president who can't tie his own shoes unaided. I'm ready to see how a non-idiot handles the office.
