Clinton choked up at NH roundtable
PORTSMOUTH, NH, Jan. 6 -- Hillary Clinton teared up at the end of a roundtable with undecided voters here the day before the primary.

After she fielded questions on how to stop manufacturing jobs from going overseas, housing, No Child Left Behind, and how she would get her healthcare plan through Congress, 64-year-old Marianne Pernold-Young, of Portsmouth, asked the senator how she got out of the house in the morning and who did her hair.

Clinton joked about having help with her hair and then began to get choked up and teary-eyed.

"It's not easy and I couldn't do it if I just didn't, you know.... video:

But when will it all get to be just "too much"? When will we get to see that famous Hillary temper? I predict that she blows a gasket after another third place finish.

Third? You figure she'll do so well? The optimist in me hopes she gets dead last. Now if she were running on a Republican ticket I could see her getting first or second.

I'll be the first one to question how genuine it was. To me it seemed like it was a tad forced, but I think she did feel some of it. Running for president is no easy task, and she's had to take a lot without a doubt. It still seemed a little setup because people have been saying she is heartless.

Goodness me! I expect this means this little non-item will no doubt be tomorrow's Financial Times headline.

Pardon me, I seem to be having a Fass moment.

Anyway, considering how completely insincere Hillary Clinton is, I wouldn't put it past her that this unscripted boo-hoo was deliberately intended to gain any measure of empathising votes.

Let's face it, US 24 hour news agencies have next to nothing to fill thier schedules with, so non-items like this are always broadcast.

Bingo! Give the man a cigar!

This is what Hilary does. People have been criticizing her demeanor and femininity (of all things, ugh, stupid), so she pulls a stunt. Given her track record of insincerity, it's not that big of leap.

The kind of impact a womans shoe makes on an ex-presidents crotch, I'd say. Poor Bill...'Not in the face' he pleads, as an enraged Hillary vents her pent up need to kick the shite out of something on his defenceless carcass.....

She breaks down crying because she is in a tough race? Yeah, that fills me with confidence in Hillary's ability to lead the worlds only superpower where tough dealings and decisions will be on her plate daily.

I have another question here: What if a man running for President in an interview got choked up and almost starting crying based on the same question?

He'd no doubt be decried as a big sissy boy.

Oh, dear. Now the dittoheads are going to have to switch from ranting about what a cold, calculating, emotionless bitch Hillary is to ranting about what an overly emotional, unstable, incompetent bitch she is - for a few days, anyway.

How dull.

She made it about her gender.

When she was crying?

I'm only saying that if, say, Obama was tearing up for not getting first place in Iowa, I'd be doubting his ability to be an effective leader of the US as well.

I'd say she qualifies for a Razzie. And so does IL Ruffino for his politically correct misspelling of "woman" and "women":

Actually womyn is supposed to be an alternate spelling encouraged by certain feminist organisations.

A Dean moment to follow up a Muskie?

I have another question here: What if a man running for President in an interview got choked up and almost starting crying based on the same question?

While not the same question, the apperance of crying while defending his wif sank Ed Muskie.

She made it about her gender.

Indeed.

Anyone remember the giggling fit that accompanied questions on Hillarycare? I saw it with Tim Russert doing the questioning, but apparently, she used it in place of real answers on several shows.

Poor Hillary, it's so unfair, isn't it?

i just saw it on the cbs evening news.

it looked very nice to me. far more sincere than that whole laughing spree she went on. *shudder* that was a huge mistake.

all of the candidates are campaigning 24/7 until tomorrow night. she might be so exhausted that it is bringing up her emotions.

Actually womyn is supposed to be an alternate spelling encouraged by certain feminist organisations.

I am aware of that. It is because these so-called "womyn" wish to distance themselves from men because they supposedly feel "oppressed" () being referred to as the women they are (EDIT: no, I do not mean the word "women" in any derogatory sense, and if you take it that way, you're just paranoid and hypersensitive), and in order to eliminate this alleged (and IMO, imagined/nonexistent) "oppression", they misspell "women" as "womyn" so as to pretend/appear to be a completely different species from men, when it is biologically obvious that they and men are different genders of the same species.

Same way in the animal kingdom: If you have a male dog and a female dog, they are two different genders, but not two different species; BOTH ARE DOGS.

Men and womEn are no different. They are two genders of the same species.

I saw it differently. I think that was a gaff, not an act.

Hillary does this gesture with her hand, a grasping gesture I use myself ... "trying to grasp the point" ... though I usually do it with the right hand. Then, bizarrely, she rests her chin on the hand. It's like she's taking the hand out of play, and resting the head is usually a signal of boredom or tiredness. She realizes the question didn't deserve a long answer, but she's in the personal mode. "I'm tired, your question is silly" is what that gesture means.

Essentially, what I think is happening is that she's trying to disengage from the question ... she thought it was an opportunity to be inspiring, but what's actually coming up in words is a personal response. I want to see a cutaway of the journo who asked her the question, because I bet she's looking smug just then.

While all that is happening, Hillary says "you know, I have so many opportunities from this country ... I just don't want to see us fall backwards."

It's a personal answer, to what was a thinly disguised personal question. She isn't talking about the opportunities of children for an education, or the opportunities to spread freedom around the world, she's talking about her career prospects. One of her past opportunities counts above all others, she's been the wife of a president. "I just don't want to see us fall backwards" -- she's been counting the Presidency as hers. And ... "us." Ouch.

It's a gaff all right. Correct answer was "I have some help with my hair. Next question please."

But I don't think she's finished yet. It's OK to really, really want the Presidency.
